About the role
Consumer Growth sits within Customer Markets and plays a pivotal role in the growth of AGL’s residential and SME customer base across Australia. We employ targeted initiatives and personalised solutions to attract new residential and SME customers, ensuring that our energy services align with their unique needs and preferences. Through strategic marketing campaigns, outreach programs, and residential and SME customer engagement efforts, the team enhances our market presence as the preferred choice for a diverse range of consumers. Fundamentally, we help to support the growth of AGL by attracting residential and SME customers, fostering loyalty, increasing market share, and optimising the experience through impactful and innovative initiatives.
As the Senior Analyst for Performance & Planning, you will lead analytical activities that support performance management, forecasting, financial planning and strategic decision-making across the Consumer Growth business unit. You will translate complex performance, financial and commercial data into clear insights and actionable recommendations that influence business outcomes. Your core responsibilities include owning key performance frameworks, leading forecasting analysis, supporting budget and financial planning, and delivering commercial decision support. You will partner with stakeholders across Customer Markets to challenge assumptions, identify risks and opportunities, and inform acquisition priorities and business plans through analysis and recommendations.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Performance Management: Own and continuously improve performance frameworks, KPIs and reporting that provide clear visibility of Consumer Growth performance, key drivers, risks and opportunities, and support decision-making.
- Financial Planning: Provide analytical leadership and decision support for budget planning, channel OPEX management, resource allocation and supporting investment prioritisation, balancing financial considerations with strategic priorities to maximise value.
- Forecasting: Lead forecasting analysis and scenario modelling, identifying performance drivers, risks and opportunities to improve planning accuracy and commercial outcomes.
- Commercial Analysis: Deliver commercial analysis that quantifies opportunities, evaluates trade-offs and supports acquisition strategy, performance improvement and investment decisions.
- Business Planning: Actively contribute to business planning and strategic initiatives by providing commercial insight, forecasting expertise and performance recommendations, integrating cross-functional inputs to support a cohesive approach within the business unit.
- Strategic and Business Insights: Deliver strategic and commercial insights that influence business priorities, growth initiatives and performance improvement opportunities.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with senior stakeholders across Customer Markets, Finance, Marketing and Operations to align plans, challenge assumptions and support evidence-based decision-making.
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, finance, economics, analytics or a related field, with at least 5 years’ experience in analytical, performance management, planning, forecasting, finance or commercial roles.
- Demonstrated experience owning or improving performance frameworks, planning processes or commercial analytical outputs.
- Advanced financial modelling and scenario analysis capability.
- Exceptional numerical, analytical and commercial problem-solving capability, with strong attention to detail and the ability to translate complex data into actionable recommendations.
- Proven ability to influence stakeholders through data-driven recommendations and commercial insights.
- Demonstrated experience developing forecasts, analytical models or performance frameworks that support business decision-making.
- Experience providing decision support for budget planning, resource allocation, channel investment or campaign activities.
- Ability to communicate complex analytical concepts and recommendations to senior leaders in a clear and compelling manner.
- Strong stakeholder management and business partnering capability across commercial, finance, marketing and operational teams.
