Position Summary

This is an exciting, newly created position for a senior sales manager to lead the Data and Feeds sales specialist team in Japan.

The role will be responsible for managing a team of sales specialists to achieve and beat the regional gross-sales target.

The business line addresses the market and financial data needs of both the Front Office sales and trading, as well as the Back and Middle Office customer personas across all customer types, from key strategic accounts to new logos.

Front Office sales and trading products and use cases include consolidated and raw market data to feed trading engines and margin pricing calculators, for example. Back and Middle Office solutions include, but are not limited to, Credit Risk, Market Risk, Trade Risk, Market Surveillance, Asset Valuations, IPV, fund/NAV pricing operations and product owners for Reference Data and Security Master databases. Fund Administrators and Custodians are also key customers for this role.

Outside of the core real-time market data business, the role also encompasses a product suite includes core market data services such as including intraday and end of day pricing and reference data, evaluated fixed income pricing, legal entity information, corporate actions, fund performance data (Lipper), ESG, company balance sheet and fundamentals as well as potentially machine-readable news from Reuters News for use-cases outside of the Front Office.

The major focus of this role is proactively winning new revenue - to both existing and new client accounts. The candidate is expected to be hands-on - personally getting involved in deals, meeting clients, coaching and mentoring their sales team, building their network across the region with customers and third-party alliance partners as well as actively participating in marketing events.

 The leader will need to be conversant in market data trends and able to articulate and inspire the team as to our roadmap relative to the Cloud. Other selling propositions include Machine Readable News and how this relates to AI and LLMs.

 

The major focus of this role is proactively winning new revenue - to both existing and new client accounts. The candidate is expected to be hands-on - personally getting involved in deals, meeting clients, network across the region and actively participate in marketing events.

The individual will be additionally responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of the business – creating and performing sales strategies, providing forecasts and business updates to internal partners, as well as collaborating with other client facing, product and marketing leaders.

 

Role Responsibilities

  • Achieve and beat the sales target for the given business line.

  • Manage the sales team across the region, including hiring, onboarding, training, and sales operations.

  • Create, communicate, and execute sales strategies.

  • Collaborate with other sales, account management and product leaders.

  • Actively contribute to client engagements and help open and close deals.

  • Be the SME on the business – both the products and the addressable market.

Desired skills and experience

  • 4+ years leading a sales team in a SaaS or financial data business addressing the financial sector.

  • 10+ years’ experience in a client facing role, with direct sales experience a strong plus.

  • Domain expertise in market data

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience coordinating with various business functions to ‘own’ the growth of a business
