Position Summary

This Taiwan-focused Sales Development representative will work with a motivated and successful team at the forefront of electron microscopy in Taiwan, Asia and around the world, including applications, product development, sales and marketing. You will become a product expert and help to deliver Electron Microscopy (EM) business growth in Taiwan, working closely with our academic and industrial research customers, to understand their application needs and find effective ways to promote our solutions. You will help to understand and build relationships with key researchers and match our technology and solutions to customer needs, and help to increase materials science EM sales in the region.

Job responsibilities will include:

  • Keeping up to date on the latest products and technology (mainly EM), by developing relationships both inside and outside the APAC region, including with hands-on experience if possible.
  • Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with customers to better understand how to make them successful, both in academia and industry.
  • Explaining new products, workflows and solutions to customers including in the battery, steel, automotive, and coatings industries, as well as to academic researchers.
  • Supporting the sales team to improve win-rate for electron microscopy opportunities
  • Supporting the planning, preparation and execution of product demonstrations
  • Partner with regional sales managers to execute our annual operation plan, develop and drive business development projects for target market segments. Overlook the progress to ensure the key projects in good shape, on track and deliver the target pipeline growth.
  • EM market and competition intelligence, including participating in microscopy societies and conferences, identifying key opinion leaders, understanding competitor products and strategies, and sharing microscopy technical expertise and advice to internal and external customers
  • Helping with event planning and execution including conferences, workshops, trade shows and webinars, and presenting at such events.
  • Discussing with the MSBU product team about customer and market trends and requests, to improve the development of the next generation of electron microscopes
  • Adapting or translating marketing materials for local use.
  • Helping to train and develop other members of the team.

The ideal candidate would have:

  • Good knowledge of EM techniques and applications and passion about the fields of electron microscopy and materials science
  • Strong background in materials science research, academic or industrial, or good understanding of a range of materials science customer applications, and experience interacting with industrial or academic scientists and researchers
  • A university degree or equivalent, preferably a PhD or similar research experience in the field of materials science, metallurgy, electron microscopy, nanotechnology or engineering.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, (primarily in Chinese and English, but other languages welcome) including the ability to explain technical concepts, workflows and applications clearly to a range of audiences, to gain trust, to influence and persuade others, to present at conferences, to work well in teams, and to listen and understand customer needs.
  • Ability to achieve results and work to agreed timelines.
  • Be able to produce and implement new ideas, and to see new opportunities and realize them.
  • Good judgement and decision-making skills.
  • Enthusiasm to work within a diverse, cross-functional team across multiple sites
  • A high level of integrity and a desire to improve customer outcomes and achieve customer satisfaction
  • Willingness to travel up to 60%, mainly within Taiwan and some APAC regions
