The company offers the opportunity to those who wish to express interest in the position of “Safety Engineer | Τεχνικός Ασφαλείας”, for its premises in Chalkidiki. The position will be reported to the Safety Supervisor of the Health & Safety department in Skouries.

Main Responsibilities:

·        Strong and continuous field presence across active construction areas, with focus on critical, high-risk and priority activities.

·        Day-to-day leadership, coaching and guidance of contractor Safety Supervisors, ensuring effective HSE supervision of their workforces.

·        Ensuring compliance with Hellas Gold safety standards, project HSE requirements, approved procedures and applicable legislation across all contractors.

·        Participation in daily toolbox talks and construction coordination meetings, ensuring safety risks, interfaces, priority activities and required controls are clearly identified and addressed.

·        Review of upcoming works and short-term construction plans to identify high-risk activities and ensure the availability of appropriate HSE resources, permits, procedures, risk assessments and controls.

·        Collaboration with contractors on the development and review of method statements, risk assessments/JHAs and safe work procedures for hazardous or non-routine activities.

·        Verification of critical controls for high-risk activities, including lifting operations, work at height, excavation, confined spaces, energization/LOTO, hot work and mobile equipment interaction.

·        Conducting regular field inspections, task observations and safety interactions, ensuring unsafe conditions and behaviours are promptly addressed and followed up.

·        Exercise of stop-work authority where imminent or unacceptable risks are identified, ensuring work resumes only after adequate controls have been verified.

·        Monitoring contractor compliance with permit-to-work requirements and other applicable site control systems.

·        Leading and supporting incident, near-miss and high-potential event investigations, ensuring root causes are identified and corrective and preventive actions are effectively implemented and closed.

·        Monitoring and maintaining contractor safety performance metrics, using leading and lagging indicators to assess HSE performance.

·        Identification of adverse trends, recurring findings and areas of underperformance, with targeted improvement actions communicated to Construction Management and contractor leadership.

·        Close coordination with Construction, HSE, Quality, Engineering and contractor teams to effectively manage interfaces and ensure safe project execution.

·        Promotion of consistent safety reporting, incident learning and the sharing of good practices across contractors.

Requirements:

·        University degree or technical qualification in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering or a related discipline.

·        Recognized professional HSE qualification is preferred.

·        Minimum 7 years of HSE experience in construction, mining, heavy industrial or other high-risk environments.

·        Demonstrated experience in supervising or coordinating contractor HSE teams, preferably within major multidisciplinary construction projects.

·        Experience in high-risk activities and construction safety, including hazard identification and risk assessment, JHA/JSA and method statement review, permit-to-work systems and critical control verification.

·        Proven competence in incident investigation, root-cause analysis and corrective action management.

·        Experience in safety inspections, task observations, toolbox talks, emergency preparedness and HSE KPI monitoring and reporting.

·        Strong coaching, influencing and field communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with contractors and multidisciplinary teams.

·        Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HSE reporting systems.

·        Relevant construction safety training and demonstrated incident investigation competence.

·        Valid drivers license B’ class.
