Responsibilities

  • Work within established regulatory and knowledge management systems to deliver defined results in the area of regulatory guidance and product stewardship.
  • Deliver required outcomes by managing day-to-day interactions with internal stakeholders (e.g. Product Stewardship, R&D, Sales) and external partners (e.g. customers, authorities), ensuring alignment with defined regulatory processes and policies.
  • Identify gaps in regulatory processes, systems, and data, and support the development and implementation of improvements under guidance.
  • Support the development, maintenance, and execution of procedures related to regulatory compliance, customer communication, and product stewardship activities.
  • Provide regulatory guidance and services that meet customer and business needs by selecting appropriate approaches within established systems and standards.
  • Execute small to medium-sized regulatory and compliance-related projects (e.g. coordinate new chemical substance notifications, data system improvements, customer documentation updates) within defined frameworks.
  • Ensure compliance of products with Japanese and relevant international regulations by evaluating product composition and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain regulatory data and documentation (e.g., chemSHERPA) and contribute to global data quality and consistency.

Requirements

  • Japanese language level (Business)
  • University degree (Bachelor or equivalent) in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field
  • Relevant experience enabling the job holder to handle most situations independently and provide guidance to others
  • Works independently with minimal supervision and provides technical guidance where required to develop appropriate solutions
  • Applies regulatory knowledge and expertise without supervision and contributes to decision-making within the defined scope
  • Demonstrates the ability to interpret and apply regulatory frameworks (especially Japanese regulations) to business situations
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work in an international environment
  • Fluent Japanese and business-level English required
