Working under the supervision of an executive producer, you are a key member of the station’s leadership team.

Role

You plan, conceive, organize and/or develop production and realization of a radio program.

Work must adhere to CBC/Radio-Canada journalistic and/or program policies, standards and practices, and you are ultimately responsible for ensuring that this occurs. Key Tasks:

  • Conceive and develop program ideas and concepts. Participate in the preparation of program objectives, ensuring that the program mandate is reflected.
  • Develop the program’s content and editorial direction, including assigning, researching, writing, editing and/or managing the digital presence; commission writing and/or research as required; prepare scripts.
  • Under the supervision of the Executive Producer, determine the style, pace, tempo, lineup and format of the program.
  • Plan and organize the program.
  • Plan, select and request, in conjunction with the unit or business manager, the financial and production/resource requirements, including the creative contributors and other participants, the material and facilities. During program preparation, production and post-production, be responsible and accountable for exercising budget authority.
  • Exercise editorial responsibility as delegated by management.
  • Research and write content as needed.
  • Evaluate all facets of a production, including performance of program and production staff as well as freelance contributors.
  • Ensure optimal digital reach for radio content.
  • Track contributor contracts.
  • Prepare remotes to help us connect with the communities we serve.

As required, perform the following tasks:

  • Direct sound.
  • Select, rewrite and/or edit copy or text written by others.
  • Ensure, in collaboration with copyright clearance officers or others, the proper and accurate clearance of all material used in the program.
  • Determine the order and importance of various elements of a program.
  • Assign, co-ordinate and supervise the work of personnel who contribute to the program or segment for which you are responsible.
  • Identify, develop and maintain contacts appropriate to the area of assignment.
  • Assign team resources and/or write digital content for the program web page.
  • Prepare programs for digital platforms as needed, including manipulating/designing images and graphics.
  • Edit and mix, or direct the editing and mixing of, audio and/or visual elements.
  • Ensure the maintenance of a level of communication or rapport with members of the audience that is both feasible and appropriate to the style and nature of the program and participate in this activity as necessary.
  • Maintain a strong team culture and positive work environment.
  • Collaborate with other station teams.

This role requires full-time on-site presence.
