Job Title: Project Engineer
Location: BWPC Factory - Gateway, General Trias, Cavite (Onsite)

 

Job Purpose
 

The Project Engineer is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of capital projects within the factory, ensuring projects are executed safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with Unilever engineering and quality standards. The role supports factory expansion, automation initiatives, process improvements, equipment installation, commissioning, and operational excellence programs to drive safety, quality, productivity, and sustainability.
 

Key Responsibilities
 

1. Project Planning & Design

  • Collaborate with Factory Teams and PMO on factory layout development, automation initiatives, business case preparation, and future innovations.

  • Review current manufacturing operations and identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, efficiency, and productivity.

  • Support design reviews and recommend solutions to technical issues, design conflicts, and engineering challenges.

  • Develop User Requirement Specifications (URS), technical specifications, and procurement packages for supplier bidding and contractor selection.

  • Prepare project execution plans, safety plans, schedules, risk assessments, and project networks.

2. Project Execution & Delivery

  • Lead the execution of assigned capital projects from initiation through handover and close-out.

  • Manage project timelines, budgets, resources, contractors, and vendors to ensure successful project delivery.

  • Monitor project progress and provide regular status updates to stakeholders.

  • Conduct site inspections, audits, and safety reviews to ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Facilitate project meetings and escalate key risks, issues, and decisions to project leadership and governance teams.

  • Ensure OTIF (On Time In Full) delivery of assigned projects while maintaining safety as the top priority.

3. Engineering & Commissioning

  • Lead equipment installation, commissioning, and start-up activities.

  • Coordinate and support FAT (Factory Acceptance Test), SAT (Site Acceptance Test), IQ (Installation Qualification), OQ (Operational Qualification), and PQ (Performance Qualification) processes.

  • Ensure compliance with Machinery Safety Standards, Hygienic Plant Standards, and all applicable engineering requirements.

  • Develop and execute ramp-up plans to achieve operational performance targets.

  • Conduct training programs for operators and maintenance teams on new equipment and systems.

4. Asset & Documentation Management

  • Manage asset tagging, capitalization, fixed asset documentation, and project asset audits.

  • Update master data, factory layouts, engineering drawings, and P&IDs impacted by project execution.

  • Maintain project documentation, technical records, and close-out reports.

  • Complete project handover documentation and support transition to operations.

5. Continuous Improvement

  • Support plant improvement initiatives across manufacturing, utilities, automation, and engineering systems.

  • Participate in Early Equipment Management and other continuous improvement pillars.

  • Contribute to the development of engineering standards, best practices, and factory master plans.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related Engineering discipline.

  • Professional Engineering License is preferred.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Project Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Operations, or Capital Project Management.

  • Experience managing end-to-end engineering projects, including planning, procurement, installation, commissioning, and handover.

  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, utilities, equipment installation, controls and automation systems.

  • Experience with FAT, SAT, IQ, OQ, and PQ activities is an advantage.

  • Knowledge of machinery safety standards, risk assessments, and engineering compliance requirements.

  • Proficiency in project planning and scheduling tools such as MS Project or equivalent.

  • Experience with AutoCAD, SAP, or similar engineering systems is preferred.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, contractors, suppliers, and external partners.

  • Willing to work onsite in General Trias, Cavite and support project activities outside regular business hours when required.
