What You Will Do

The Programmer Analyst Sr, Internet Development, (PA-I, Sr) analyzes, designs, codes, tests and debugs new Internet Applications or enhancements to current Internet.


Applications based on technical and business requirements. Under the direction of the Team Lead, Web Developer, Sr, the PA-I, Sr is competent to work on most complex programs independently. The PA-I, Sr works with other team members to ensure application availability and deliver ongoing system maintenance/support.


They are an expert in Internet technologies and are committed to ongoing education/training to maintain/improve skills and keep abreast of industry advances. The PA-I, Sr acts as a technical lead from time to time on projects and assists in the development of other team members through training, coaching and mentoring.


Excellence in Code Development (RESULTS):

  • High Quality Code - Minimal issues found in QA and Production attributable to code.
  • Code meets the Business/Technical Design requirements.
  • Code delivered on time, and under budget.
  • Minimal direction/oversight needed to achieve results.

 

Quality of the Deliverables (PROCESS):

  • Technical Documentation, test case documentation or results of automated tests.
  •  Code delivered is supportable / maintainable and performs efficiently.
  •  CQs and Project Documentation are updated correctly and in a timely manner.
  •  Code meets with ASG security standards.
  •  Adherence to Change Management / Release Processes.
  •  Design and code walk-through sessions are completed with the Team Lead.

 

Project Development Methodology (PROCESS):

  • Contributes to (and on occasion acts as the lead) the completion of the definition, estimation and execution of project work packages, and systems design specifications and documentation.
  • Estimates for work effort (re: hours to log in eTM) and target dates of completion provided in a timely manner and are met.
  • PIR ratings and feedback from PM's.

 

Excellence in support services (PEOPLE/PROCESS):

  • Participates in rotating pager support (24*7) and supports application verification for major installs.
  •  PACE tickets are resolved/updated in a timely manner and escalated accordingly.

 

Technology (INNOVATION/PEOPLE):

  • Incorporates new technology in maintenance / projects.
  • Product enhancement / innovation.
  • Proactively get greater exposure to new internet technology.

 

Leadership / TeamWork / Mentoring (PEOPLE):

  • Assists in the development of other team members through knowledge sharing, engagement and mentoring of junior team members.
  • Actively participates within projects, team and joint departmental initiatives.

What We’re Looking For

  • University degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 3 - 5 years Internet Development experience or equivalent experience.

 

The Skills You Bring

  • Ability to effectively communicate technical jargon to business users and vice versa.
  • Ability to communicate within Internet Development team and across IS.
  • J2EE technologies, especially XML, XSL, XSLT, Servlet, JSP and Java Frameworks such as Spring and Struts.
  • Web presentation technologies, especially DHTML, JavaScript, AJAX, CSS and multi-browser compatibility.
  • Web services technologies such as SOAP, UDDI, WSDL.
  • Database technologies such as JDBC, Oracle, SQL
  • Websphere 6 and RAD IDE.
  • JUNIT or other unit testing tools/frameworks/methodologies.
  • Object oriented analysis, design and development and web design patterns.
  • Security techniques.
  • E-business technologies and methodologies/processes.
  • Driven by a strong sense of urgency, tenacity and a desire to accomplish
  • Desire/Commitment to continuously improve/evolve skills and keep up to date with latest technology.
  • Team player.

For this role, your total rewards include:


  • Base Salary and Discretionary Performance Bonus: A competitive annual range of $107,000 to $124,000, based on your experience and qualifications.

  • RRSP Contribution: After 6 months of employment, we invest in your future with an RRSP contribution—no employee matching required.
