POSITION SPECIFICS
Program Coordinator for Peer Education and Student Engagement
The Penn State Relationship Violence Outreach, Intervention, and Community Education Center (R-VOICE) invites applications for a Program Coordinator for Peer Education and Student Engagement.
R-VOICE has supported Penn State students for more than 40 years through education, advocacy, referrals, and confidential support for students impacted by sexual and relationship violence, stalking, harassment, and related concerns. The Center also leads University-wide prevention education focused on healthy relationships, consent, bystander engagement, help-seeking, community responsibility, and violence prevention. All R-VOICE services are provided free of charge to Penn State students.
The Program Coordinator coordinates R-VOICE peer education and student engagement initiatives; develops and facilitates prevention education; advises and supervises student leaders and peer educators; and builds partnerships that expand student participation in violence prevention and community education.
Program Development and Outreach
- Develop and facilitate evidence-informed prevention education on healthy relationships, consent, respect, accountability, help-seeking, bystander engagement, and violence prevention in collaboration with the Associate Director.
- Develop outreach strategies and partnerships that expand participation in prevention education across student communities, organizations, and programs.
- Coordinate R-VOICE prevention events and educational programs, including guest speakers and Sexual Assault Awareness Month activities.
- Support prevention education and peer engagement efforts across Penn State campuses, as feasible.
- Collaborate with Student Affairs and campus partners to strengthen student safety, well-being, community responsibility, and engagement.
- Use student feedback, participation data, and learning outcomes to assess programs and guide improvement.
Peer Education and Student Leadership
- Coordinate and oversee R-VOICE peer education programs.
- Advise, supervise, train, and support peer educators, student leaders, volunteers, and the Graduate Assistant for Peer Education.
- Provide peer educators with guidance on program development, facilitation, event logistics, and University policies and procedures.
- Maintain current knowledge of evidence-informed peer education and violence prevention practices.
- Collaborate with R-VOICE staff and Student Affairs partners to support consistent prevention and bystander engagement approaches.
Communications and Program Administration
- Promote R-VOICE services and programs through appropriate University communication channels, including social media, presentations, and written materials.
- Coordinate with Student Affairs Communications and Marketing on program publicity and educational materials.
- Assist with program logistics, events, committees, and UPUA student fee tracking.
- Make appropriate referrals and maintain effective relationships with students, faculty, staff, and campus partners.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with applicable University policies and requirements, including Clery Act, Title IX, and Pennsylvania child abuse reporting requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Director.
Necessary Skills and Knowledge
- Experience developing and facilitating educational programs, workshops, or training related to violence prevention, healthy relationships, bystander engagement, student well-being, or related areas.
- Experience engaging college students through peer education, leadership development, mentoring, or student organizations.
- Understanding of student development and factors affecting student success, engagement, well-being, and access to resources.
- Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships and work effectively with students and colleagues with varied backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences.
- Experience with program development, implementation, assessment, and continuous improvement.
- Ability to advise and supervise student leaders and peer educators.
- Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree 3+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None
BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES
This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.Penn State does not sponsor or take over sponsorship of a staff employment Visa. SALARY & BENEFITS
The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $49,188.00 - $71,340.00.
