Research To Practice (RTP) is a leading provider of continuing medical education (CME) programs that deliver expert perspectives on clinical research and emerging data in oncology and hematology. Founded and led by Dr. Neil Love, RTP is dedicated to translating complex clinical science into meaningful educational experiences that inform and elevate patient care.

We create engaging, evidence-based educational programs—live and digital—that feature thought leaders from around the world and provide clinicians with practical, real-world insights that drive better outcomes for patients with cancer.

Summary:  The Production and Editorial Manager owns the production lifecycle and on-time delivery of the company's enduring educational programs across digital, print, and multimedia platforms. The role manages production planning, timelines, and cross-functional coordination with editorial, design, audio/video, copyediting, marketing, and web teams while serving as the final quality checkpoint before publication.

The Production and Editorial Manager is responsible for maintaining the final look and feel of published materials, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and quality across all formats. The role combines production management with editorial oversight, requiring exceptional attention to detail, strong proofreading and copyediting skills, and a comprehensive understanding of the publishing workflow to proactively identify issues, coordinate late-stage revisions, and ensure successful launches.

In addition to managing enduring program workflows, the role supports promotional, live, and print initiatives, continuously evaluates production processes, and recommends workflow improvements that enhance efficiency, quality, and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

Production & Project Management

  • Develop and manage multiple concurrent production timelines for enduring educational programs, social media, print, and promotional initiatives.
  • Coordinate production schedules across editorial, design, multimedia, web, marketing, and project management teams to ensure timely delivery.
  • Monitor project status, identify risks or production bottlenecks, and proactively resolve scheduling conflicts.
  • Maintain awareness of production schedules and deadlines, assisting project managers in resolving production issues and delays.
  • Provide concise status reporting to executive leadership, tailoring reports appropriately for the intended audience.
  • Support other project managers on print and live event production as needed.
  • Continuously evaluate production workflows and recommend improvements that increase efficiency, quality, and consistency.
  • Editorial Production & Quality Control
  • Serve as the final quality checkpoint for enduring educational materials across digital and print platforms.
  • Maintain the overall look, feel, consistency, and quality of published materials.
  • Perform proofreading, light copyediting, formatting, and quality assurance on educational, promotional, and web-based materials.
  • Compare multiple rounds of editorial revisions and source documents to ensure all approved changes are accurately incorporated into the final product.
  • Compile editorial and content team revisions, mark printer and digital proofs, and verify implementation of requested changes.
  • Review content prepared for web publication to ensure consistency across all materials, correct formatting issues, and verify that late-breaking updates have been incorporated accurately.
  • Conduct comprehensive pre-launch quality assurance reviews of enduring web products, verifying functionality, navigation, links, embedded media, downloadable materials, and overall user experience.
  • Ensure compliance with company editorial standards, patient privacy requirements, copyright policies, and established production procedures.
  • Exercise sound editorial judgment when accepting or rejecting copy edits, communicating recommendations and changes clearly to editors and stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to improve language quality, readability, usability, and consistency across all published content.

Workflow & Process Management

  • Serve as a production "air traffic controller," maintaining visibility across multiple simultaneous projects and coordinating dependencies among teams.
  • Maintain and update production workflows, standard operating procedures, style guides, and documentation as needed.
  • Monitor adherence to established production processes and recommend procedural improvements to reduce errors and increase efficiency.
  • Partner with the Senior Manager, Multimedia Production to identify recurring quality issues and implement corrective process improvements.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Interface effectively with executive leadership and cross-functional teams throughout the production process.
  • Respond promptly to requests from management and project stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with editorial, content, multimedia, web, marketing, and design teams to ensure successful project execution.
  • Assist with development of marketing emails, social media copy, and other communications as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Communications, English, Journalism, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in proofreading, copyediting, editorial production, or media production (print, digital, audio/video, or online publishing).
  • Experience serving as a final quality control reviewer for published materials.
  • Production management or cross-functional project management experience strongly preferred.
  • Excellent written communication, organizational, and project management skills.
  • High level of proficiency with Adobe Acrobat.
  • Experience with—or ability to quickly learn—project management and annotation platforms such as Asana, Airtable, Front, GoProof, or similar tools.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to balance multiple concurrent projects and deadlines.

Why Join Research To Practice

  • Collaborate directly with Dr. Neil Love and a respected team of oncology thought leaders.
  • Shape education that meaningfully impacts how clinicians deliver cancer care.
  • Join a mission-driven organization known for its scientific integrity, creativity, and influence in oncology CME.
  • Flexible, collegial environment that values professional growth, innovation, and collaboration.
