Job Title: Prep Cook

Company: Redwood Cove Healthcare Center

Location: Ukiah, California

Schedule: 40 hrs per week Tuesday-Saturday 6am-2:30pm

Pay: starting at $17/hr

Position Overview: We are currently seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Prep Cook to join our culinary team. The Prep Cook will play a vital role in ensuring the efficient operation of our kitchen by assisting with food preparation, maintaining cleanliness and organization, and upholding high standards of food safety and sanitation. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic healthcare setting and contribute to the well-being of our residents.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with food preparation tasks, including chopping, slicing, and dicing ingredients according to recipes and portion sizes.
  • Prepare food items in accordance with menu specifications and quality standards, ensuring freshness and flavor.
  • Follow standardized recipes and portion controls to maintain consistency and minimize waste.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, including washing and sanitizing equipment, utensils, and work areas.
  • Adhere to food safety and sanitation regulations, including proper storage and handling of food products.
  • Collaborate with kitchen team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of tasks.
  • Assist with inventory management, including monitoring stock levels and replenishing supplies as needed.
  • Support the culinary team during meal service, including plating and garnishing dishes as directed.
  • Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance culinary skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a prep cook or kitchen assistant preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic food preparation techniques and culinary terminology.
  • Understanding of food safety and sanitation principles, with a focus on cleanliness and hygiene.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with kitchen staff.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Current food handler's card or willingness to obtain upon hire.
