The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. Description of Work
This position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor at a close custody male correctional facility and provides facility maintenance/plumbing support. Job responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:- Performing journey level duties in the installation, maintenance, and repair of air, gas, water, and waste disposal systems.
- Performing routine work assignments are in the nature of position as well as needed repair, and assignments involving work of special or unusual nature that are accompanied by specific instructions.
- Exercising considerable independence in performance of routine work, but unprecedented assignments are usually discussed with or supervised by foreman.
- Being reviewed by foreman through inspection of work in progress and on the basis of satisfactory operation of equipment repaired or installed.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
Salary Range: $39,244 - $68,679

The Division of Institutions manages the daily operations of all state-operated prison facilities across North Carolina. Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum, medium, close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions. The division provides safety, security, and rehabilitative services through trained custody staff, program facilitators, and administrative personnel.
