Our London-based projects team seeks a highly skilled individual with a robust background in providing specialist construction services focusing on the piping, civil and structural scope primarily in brown-field related work. In this role, you'll be responsible for ensuring the successful execution of construction activities for specific projects which are underway in Gabon.

Reporting to the Projects Construction Superintendent, you will be responsible for overseeing contractor activities both in Port-Gentil and at operational project sites, ensuring all construction work is executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

As Piping, Civil & Structural Supervisor, you will:

  • Supervise contractor personnel and oversee daily construction activities on-site.
  • Promote and maintain safe working practices, ensuring full compliance with company and contractor HSSE requirements.
  • Participate in and contribute to regular safety meetings and site inspections.
  • Monitor progress against approved project schedules and prepare detailed progress reports.
  • Coordinate closely with Operations teams regarding work permits, site access requirements, and adherence to operational procedures.
  • Ensure all construction activities comply with company engineering standards, specifications, and project requirements.
  • Supervise and verify:
    • Civil foundation construction and installation works.
    • Structural steel fabrication and erection.
    • Piping fabrication, installation, and welding activities.
    • Protective coating and painting works for structural and piping systems.
  • Review and approve completed work scopes, ensuring all deliverables meet contractual and technical requirements.
  • Ensure inspection and testing activities are conducted in accordance with company quality requirements, including oversight of NDT inspection activities.
  • Review inspection documentation and verify reports prior to submission for approval.
  • Identify, document, and manage non-conformances, ensuring corrective actions are agreed with the Project Engineer.
  • Ensure technical queries raised by contractors are properly documented and resolved through the project management process.
  • Monitor and record all approved scope changes and drawing revisions for incorporation into final as-built documentation.
  • Maintain comprehensive project records, including reports, drawings, correspondence, and technical documentation to support project close-out activities.

Requirements

  • HNC qualification (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline.
  • A minimum of 10 years' experience within the oil and gas industry, with significant exposure to mechanical construction, civil works, structural works, HSSE, and QA/QC processes.
  • Proven experience supervising construction activities on brownfield oil and gas projects.
  • Strong knowledge of piping, civil, and structural construction methodologies, standards, and inspection requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience working in multicultural and international project environments.
  • Fluency in both English and French, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A strong commitment to HSSE excellence and the ability to uphold the highest safety standards at all times.
  • Excellent coordination, contractor management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
