The Piping & Structural Designer is responsible for the design, technical preparation, fabrication follow-up, and site supervision of piping systems and structures. The role supports projects throughout their lifecycle by developing engineering deliverables, coordinating with suppliers and contractors, overseeing fabrication and installation activities, and ensuring compliance with project specifications, engineering standards, quality requirements, and HSSE expectations.
Responsibilities
- Develop detailed 3D models of piping systems and steel structures.
- Prepare 2D layouts, isometric drawings, fabrication drawings, and associated technical documentation.
- Design piping and structural solutions in accordance with project specifications and engineering standards.
- Prepare project execution packages, including technical procedures, scopes of work, specifications, and method statements.
- Prepare Material Take-Offs (MTOs) and material lists required for project execution.
- Review and evaluate technical proposals from suppliers and contractors.
- Prepare technical clarifications and liaise with vendors throughout the procurement process.
- Follow up fabrication activities and verify compliance with approved specifications and quality requirements.
- Monitor material orders, deliveries, inspections, and quality control activities.
- Conduct site surveys and support engineering activities through field data collection.
- Supervise piping and structural installation works on site.
- Verify the conformity of construction and installation activities with approved engineering documentation.
- Ensure compliance with Assala site processes and procedures, including HSSE, Logistics, and Administration requirements.
- Promote safe working practices and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Technical Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Significant experience in steel structure construction and fabrication environments.
- Proven experience as an Industrial Designer.
- Experience in the preparation, coordination, and/or supervision of piping works on industrial sites.
- Strong knowledge of piping isometric drawings and piping construction practices.
- Experience using 3D scanning technology and point cloud data.
- Proficiency with CAD software, including:
- AutoCAD
- Autodesk products
- Cadwork
- Experience producing 3D models and detailed engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of fabrication, welding, piping, and structural installation practices.
- Experience preparing MTOs and technical construction documentation.
- Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and external contractors.
- French language proficiency is mandatory.
- English language skills are considered an advantage.
