About this Pipe Table Operator / Industrial Hose Fabricator role at Sunsrce
The Pipe Table Operator / Industrial Hose Fabricator works in the shop cutting, threading, and grooving pipe, as well as fabricating heavy-duty industrial hose assemblies. This is a hands-on mechanical fabrication role requiring comfort around shop equipment, chop saws, pipe threaders, and crimping machinery.
Shift: Monday – Friday, Day Shift (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
Key Responsibilities:
- Pipe Processing: Measure, cut, bevel, thread, and roll-groove carbon steel, stainless, and galvanized pipe using pipe threading machines (e.g., RIDGID 300/535) and grooving equipment.
- Hose Fabrication: Cut industrial suction, discharge, petroleum, water, and chemical hoses to exact customer cut lengths; attach fittings using internal expansion, band clamps, or large-bore crimpers.
- Quality Inspection: Use tape measures, calipers, and thread gauges to verify cut lengths, thread engagement, groove depths, and crimp diameters match work order specs.
- Shop Safety & Upkeep: Perform pre-shift safety checks on equipment, monitor die wear and cutting oil levels, change saw blades/dies, and maintain a clean, chip-free fabrication area.
- Material Handling: Move pipe bundles, hose reels, and finished assemblies using forklifts, overhead cranes/hoists, or pipe stands.
Candidate Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience in pipe fabrication, industrial hose assembly, machine operation, or metal shop production.
- Tool Competency: Proven experience operating pipe threading/grooving machines (RIDGID or similar) and power cutting saws.
- Measurement Proficiency: Must be able to read a standard tape measure down to 1/16" and use basic gauges/calipers.
- Physical Demands: Heavy industrial environment; must be comfortable lifting 50–75 lbs occasionally, working around cutting fluids/machinery, and standing throughout the shift.
