Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University is seeking multiple Physicians in the Department of Student Health Services. - Boca Raton, FL.

Student Health Services at Florida Atlantic University invites applicants for a temporary part-time Physician. Florida Atlantic University (FAU) Student Health Services is located in beautiful Boca Raton with additional smaller campuses in Jupiter and Davie. FAU is an exciting and dynamic school that is rapidly growing. At FAU SHS, we seek to provide high quality, culturally competent care in a manner that is respectful, fiscally responsible, and developmentally appropriate. We combine a wide range of medical, counseling, preventative, and wellness services to help students remain healthy and succeed academically. 

Summary of Responsibilities Include: 

• Obtains appropriate medical history and performs accurate physical examination. 

• Comforts with acute medical care, primary care, and chronic disease management. 

• Experience with basic primary care procedures such as laceration repairs and pap smears. 

• Orders and correctly interprets appropriate diagnostic studies to assist with management. 

• Develops an appropriate assessment and treatment plan consistent with findings and utilizes medication and other treatment modalities appropriately. 

• Provides education and information on the diagnosis and treatment plan including appropriate preventive and health enhancement strategies and actions. 

• Refers for additional consultation, evaluation, and treatment when clinically indicated. 

• Practices within the scope of privileges and licensure. 

• Uses evidence-based strategies to guide diagnosis and treatment. 

• Adheres to policies and established workflows for delivery of patient care. 

Boca Raton – Main Campus

OPS physicians will serve as the Provider of the Day and will:

• Serve as the primary clinical resource for nurses, NPs, and PAs, providing guidance and support for clinical questions.
• Provide clinical support and coverage for day-to-day OPS operations.

Jupiter – Satellite Campus

OPS physicians will provide support for:

• OPS provider inbox coverage, including addressing clinical questions and follow-up needs.
• Inventory support, including assisting with inventory-related needs and coordination.

Minimum Qualifications:

Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution or college of osteopathic medicine required.

Unrestricted MD or DO License to practice in state of Florida by date of hire.

Board certification in internal medicine, medicine-pediatrics, or family practice.

DEA registration.

Current BLS certification.

Experience using electronic health records.

Demonstrated ability to provide culturally competent care for diverse population.

Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

Highly effective problem solving and decisions making skills.

The provider must be willing to travel between the Main Campus in Boca Raton and the satellite campus in Jupiter, as needed.

Salary:

$115 hourly.

Temporary positions are not established positions and are paid from OPS funds.
