Department Overview
We aim to strengthen our B2B mobile services and grow them as a pillar of our business. By capturing the accelerated adoption of DX (Digital Transformation) in enterprises and providing innovative services that leverage mobile technology to the fullest, we solve our customers' challenges.
This position belongs to the Service Planning Department / Mobile Basic Service Group, and is responsible for everything from the planning to the commercialization of new services and new businesses within the Rakuten Mobile B2B business.
Our mission is to create new businesses across the next-generation mobile and IT landscape, ranging from B2B devices such as smartphones and PCs to satellite communications, 5G SA, Private 5G, and the cloud.
Rather than just operating existing services, you will be involved in conceptualizing themes that have not yet taken shape based on customer issues, involving many internal and external stakeholders, and taking them from 0 to 1 and scaling them into a business.

With the expansion of our B2B mobile business, the number of themes for launching new services and businesses is increasing; therefore, we are increasing the number of members responsible for business development and service planning.
We are not looking for someone who is knowledgeable only in a specific technical field. We are looking for people who can think of new services based on customer issues, shape hypotheses, and drive them to commercialization while motivating stakeholders. Experience in the telecommunications industry is not mandatory.
Position Details
The Mobile Basic Service Group is an organization that plans and promotes new services and new businesses in the Rakuten Mobile B2B business.
Currently, we are promoting projects such as the following:
・Planning and development of B2B device services such as smartphones, tablets, smartwatches, PCs, and industrial routers.
・Planning and commercialization of next-generation mobile services such as AST SpaceMobile (satellite communication), 5G SA, and international data sharing.
・Launch of Private 5G and new cloud businesses.
・New business development through collaboration and alliances with major companies.
・Launch of new rental services.
・Project management (PM) for device introduction projects on the scale of tens of thousands of units.
・Market, customer, and competitor research and exploration of new business opportunities.
・Planning of new service/business concepts based on B2B customer challenges.
・Design of business models, revenue models, service terms, and Go-to-Market strategies.
・Alliance and joint business development with major companies, device manufacturers, and technology partners.
・Project management from PoC planning and promotion to commercialization and large-scale deployment.
・Cross-functional project promotion involving Sales, Technology, Procurement, Legal, Finance, and Operations departments.
After joining, you will be assigned to focus on one of the themes above, based on your experience, strengths, and business priorities. This is not a position fixed to a specific service; depending on the business phase and your own career aspirations, you can expand your area of responsibility to multiple new business and service planning projects.
A major characteristic of this team is that you will not only operate existing services, but also be widely involved from planning to commercialization, creating new value while collaborating with many internal and external stakeholders.

It is an environment where you can stay up-to-date with the latest market trends while utilizing technologies such as AI to make information gathering and analysis speedy and smooth.
Many members come from outside the telecommunications industry, such as foreign IT companies and manufacturers, and the team is centered on mid-career hires.
Professionals of a wide age range are promoting a wide variety of mobile-based projects while keeping their respective missions in mind.
Mandatory Qualifications:
・At least 3 years of professional experience.
・Practical experience in any of the following: New business development, service planning, business planning, product planning, consulting, B2B solution proposal, project management, or sales planning.
・Experience in organizing customer or business issues and creating hypotheses and plans for solutions on your own.
・Experience in involving multiple internal and external stakeholders and driving projects forward.
・Ability to learn and work on new themes or unknown technologies proactively.
*Experience in the telecommunications industry is not mandatory.
Desired Qualifications:
・Experience in launching B2B services, new businesses, or products.
・Practical experience or knowledge related to telecommunications, mobile, 5G, cloud, IoT, AI, devices, etc.
・Experience in alliances with major companies, joint business development, or partnership promotion.
・Experience in formulating business cases such as business plans, revenue models, and pricing/service terms.
・Experience in project promotion from PoC to commercialization.
・Experience in device/service introduction projects on the scale of hundreds to tens of thousands of units.
・Experience working with global teams or overseas partners in English.
