Multi-Skilled Operative

Location: Hampshire Area (Aldershot & Basingstoke)

Salary: £38,703.26 per annum, plus, company van, fuel card, PPE, uniform

Contract: Permanent, Full time

Hours: Monday to Friday, 42.5 hours, 8:00am-5:00pm

We’re on the lookout for a dedicated and experienced Multi-Skilled Operative to join our team, supporting a busy responsive repairs contract working across the Hampshire area. This is a dynamic, hands-on role where you’ll be responsible for delivering high-quality repairs and maintenance across a range of trades, ensuring residents’ homes are safe, functional and well cared for. The role is predominantly based in Aldershot, with occasional visits to Basingstoke.

You’ll be working across occupied and void properties, responding to day-to-day repair requests covering carpentry, plumbing, plastering and general maintenance. You may also be required to travel to other locations within the wider area when needed to support the wider business and team.

No two days are the same, and your ability to adapt, problem-solve and deliver excellent customer service will be key to your success.

The ideal candidate will work well as part of a team and independently, have a can-do attitude and possess the ability to work under their own initiative.

Duties:

· Carry out day-to-day planned and reactive repairs across occupied and void social housing properties

· Replace or repair skirting boards, architraves and internal door frames

· Install and adjust kitchen units, worktops and cupboard doors

· Install and carry out repairs to bathrooms

· Repair or replace internal doors, handles, locks and hinges

· Identify and fix minor plumbing issues such as leaks, dripping taps and blocked sinks

· Carry out patch plastering and making good, damaged walls or ceilings

· Undertake general maintenance and upkeep works as required

· Travel to other locations within the wider area when required to support the wider business and team

· Ensure all repairs are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard

· Work in occupied properties with sensitivity to residents’ needs and privacy

· Participate in an out-of-hours emergency repair rota as and when required

· Report any further works, safeguarding concerns or property issues beyond scope

· Deliver excellent customer service while working in residents’ homes

· Accurately record job details, materials used and completion notes using handheld devices or job sheets

· Maintain tools, equipment and company vehicle in good working order

· Manage daily workload efficiently to meet service level targets

Role Criteria:

· Extensive experience in domestic repairs and maintenance across multiple trades, such as carpentry, plumbing and plastering

· Proven background in maintenance, ideally within social housing or a similar environment

· Ability to use handheld devices or job management systems to record work

· Ownership of your own basic tools

· Willingness and ability to travel when required to support the wider business and team

· Willingness to participate in an out-of-hours emergency repair rota

· Full UK driving licence
