Our engineers work across mechanical design, manufacturing, analysis, testing, safety, and vehicle integration to move new concepts from an idea to tested hardware quickly. The team is highly hands-on and built for engineers who want to design new products, solve difficult problems, and see their decisions become real hardware.

ABOUT THE JOB

The Lethality Team is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to help develop the next generation of warhead and ordnance systems.

You will design new mechanical hardware, work directly with the people building it, test your designs, and use the results to make the next iteration better.

You do not need to arrive as a warhead expert. We are looking for strong mechanical engineers with practical design experience, sound engineering judgment, curiosity, and the ability to learn a highly specialized domain quickly.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Design new mechanical hardware from requirements and early concepts through detailed CAD, drawings, fabrication, assembly, and test.
• Turn engineering ideas into manufacturable products by making practical decisions around materials, tolerances, interfaces, manufacturing methods, cost, and assembly.
• Build, test, and improve your designs by working directly with manufacturing, technicians, analysis, and test teams to identify problems and drive the next iteration.
• Integrate your hardware into larger systems by partnering with vehicle, systems, safety, and other engineering teams to resolve interfaces and technical tradeoffs.
• Grow your technical ownership by progressing from defined components and workstreams toward increasingly independent subsystem design and decision-making.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• BS in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 1 year of practical, end-to-end mechanical product design experience.
• Demonstrated experience taking a new mechanical product or design through multiple stages of development, such as concept, CAD, drawings, fabrication, assembly, testing, and iteration.
• Strong mechanical design fundamentals, including materials, tolerances, interfaces, manufacturing processes, and design for manufacturability.
• Professional CAD experience creating mechanical parts, assemblies, and engineering drawings, with the ability to explain design decisions, tradeoffs, and how test or engineering data informed the design.
• Ability to work onsite in Costa Mesa, travel for testing as required, and obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience with NX, Teamcenter, or comparable CAD/PLM tools.
• Experience applying GD&T, tolerance analysis, and design for CNC machining or precision manufacturing.
• Experience developing hardware in a fast-paced R&D or new-product-development environment.
• Experience in aerospace, defense, space, robotics, automotive, or other complex physical-product industries.
• Experience supporting mechanical, environmental, dynamic, or system-level testing and using results to improve a design.
• Exposure to ordnance, munitions, energetics, explosives, weapons systems, or other defense hardware.
