About the Role

The entry-level Mechanical Engineer I role supports an engineering team developing environmental and propulsion spaceflight systems. The role requires a strong understanding of engineering concepts, clear communication skills, the ability to follow instructions effectively and self-manage tasks, and collaboration with a team to achieve project goals.

In this role, you will assist in the analysis, design, and evaluation of mechanical, fluid, and pressure control hardware and systems. You will collect and analyze data to support engineering objectives based on performance requirements and industry standards. Additionally, you will contribute to the resolution of routine technical problems. Preparing technical documentation to communicate findings and support project objectives will be a key part of your responsibilities. You will work effectively within cross-functional teams to achieve project goals and meet deadlines, while clearly communicating technical concepts and information both verbally and in writing to ensure alignment and collaboration.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field (or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree).
  • Typically entry-level 0 - 2 years of experience.
  • Basic understanding and application of Mechanical Engineering technical principles, standards, theories, and concepts.
  • Familiarity with 3D CAD modeling and 2D drawing concepts.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a team and follow guidance from senior engineers.
  • Clear verbal and written communication of technical concepts and information.
  • Eagerness to learn and develop new skills in a collaborative and dynamic work environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Internship or co-op experience in a mechanical engineering or related environment.
  • Hands-on mechanical experience such as an engineering competition team, senior design project, robotics or 3D printing
  • Familiarity with Siemens Teamcenter and NX applications and GD&T.
  • Familiarity with design, analysis, and test methods related to mechanical, fluid and/or pressure systems.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes, material sciences, and their impact on mechanical systems.

 

 

Compensation:

Pay Range:

$70,213.00 - $96,542.50

Your actual base compensation will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge and skills, education, experience, internal equity and market competitiveness.
