JOB TITLE: Maintenance Manager
REPORTS TO: Fleet & Facility Director
LOCATION: Sysco Bahamas – Nassau, Bahamas
EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-Time

Job Summary

The Maintenance Manager is a key operational leader at Sysco Bahamas, responsible for planning, directing, and executing all maintenance activities across a 310,000 sq. ft. food distribution facility. This role ensures maximum equipment uptime, facility reliability, regulatory compliance, and operational safety.

The position oversees Maintenance and Sanitation operations, drives preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, manages capital improvements, and ensures the safe operation of all building systems, refrigeration, utilities, and material handling equipment in a high-volume environment.

This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong technical expertise in mechanical, electrical, and anhydrous ammonia refrigeration systems.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance & Reliability

• Lead all facility, equipment, refrigeration, MHE, and infrastructure maintenance activities.
• Drive uptime performance through preventive, predictive, and emergency maintenance programs (Workday/Sprocket preferred).
• Oversee plant equipment performance, downtime analysis, and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
• Manage capital projects, vendor sourcing, contract negotiation, and spare parts inventory.
• Approve maintenance expenditures and monitor departmental budget performance.
• Provide after-hours and emergency response support as required.

Ammonia Refrigeration & Compliance

• Provide technical oversight of the anhydrous ammonia refrigeration system.
• Support Process Safety Management (EPSM) updates and regulatory compliance.
• Ensure adherence to safety standards and safe work practices

Sanitation & Facility Oversight

• Oversee sanitation operations across all temperature zones and exterior grounds (including lawn care).
• Ensure compliance with food safety, HACCP, and Ministry of Health standards.

Leadership & Administration

• Lead and develop multi-shift maintenance and sanitation teams.
• Train staff on PM protocols and safety procedures.
• Track KPIs related to uptime, cost control, and reliability.
• Maintain compliance documentation for refrigeration, fire systems, and other regulated assets.

Qualifications

Education

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Valid Bahamas Driver’s License required.
• Refrigeration Operator I or equivalent preferred.

Experience

• 2–5 years of maintenance management experience in foodservice, warehousing, or manufacturing.
• Experience managing large-scale facilities (300,000+ sq. ft. preferred).
• Extensive experience in anhydrous ammonia refrigeration systems and PSM programs.
• Experience leading multi-shift teams and managing vendors and budgets.
• CMMS experience (Workday/Sprocket preferred).
• Preferred experience with Raymond or Crown MHE.

Skills

• Strong electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics.
• Proficient with diagnostic and testing equipment.
• Leadership, analytical problem-solving, and project management skills.
• Strong computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, CMMS).
