About the Position:           

Flinders University is seeking an engaging and innovative Lecturer in Law (Teaching Specialist, Academic) and a Lecturer in Law (Teaching and Research) to join our growing Law team.

As a Lecturer in Law (Teaching Specialist, Academic), you will make an independent contribution to teaching excellence, curriculum development and the scholarship of teaching, using innovative practices and technologies to enhance student success.

As a Lecturer in Law (Teaching and Research), you will combine inspiring teaching with an active research program, contributing to high-quality publications, external funding, research supervision and the broader research strengths of the College. Current teaching needs include areas such as Evidence, Health Law, Torts, Administrative Law, and Public Law.

Across both positions, you will:

  • Inspire student learning: Create and deliver engaging, contemporary and student-centred teaching across face-to-face and online environments.
  • Shape the curriculum: Contribute to topic coordination, curriculum design, review and continuous improvement across Law programs.
  • Drive innovation: Use contemporary teaching practices, assessment approaches and learning technologies to enhance the student experience.
  • Build connections: Develop productive relationships with colleagues, students, industry, professional associations and the wider community to create opportunities and strengthen teaching and learning outcomes.

These positions are open to domestic candidates with Australian Work Rights. Relocation support is available to the successful candidate.

About You:

We are looking for an experienced legal educator or practitioner who is passionate about teaching and committed to preparing students for successful careers in law and related fields. You are confident using contemporary teaching methods and digital learning technologies, and you are motivated by improving student outcomes and preparing graduates for modern legal practice and broader societal impact.

You will bring:

  • A PhD or EdD in Law (or equivalent qualification)
  • Teaching capability: Demonstrated experience delivering high-quality tertiary teaching with the ability to teach and demonstrate practical legal skills and apply approaches that enhance student learning, engagement and success.
  • Educational innovation: Experience in curriculum design, teaching innovation, assessment and the effective use of contemporary and online learning technologies.
  • Research and academic contribution: For the Teaching and Research position, a strong research record appropriate to career stage, including quality publications and external competitive grants, alongside the ability to contribute to research student supervision.
