About the Role

We are looking for a Lead Site Reliability Engineer to own the reliability of Zenoti's non-database tier: web applications, APIs, analytics and reporting systems running on cloud infrastructure (preferably Azure). You will set the reliability bar, lead incident and observability practices, and work closely with engineering teams on resilient design and safe delivery. Database reliability is covered by a separate team; this role focuses on everything above it.

What will I be doing?

  • Own the reliability, availability, performance and scalability of Zenoti's non-database platform: web applications, APIs/microservices, background processing, analytics and reporting workloads.
  • Define SLIs/SLOs/SLAs and error budgets for application and API components and drive their adoption across engineering teams.
  • Lead observability for applications: APM, distributed tracing, log aggregation, metrics, dashboards and actionable alerting that reduces noise and MTTD/MTTR.
  • Lead incident response for application-tier issues: triage, mitigation, root cause analysis, blameless postmortems and tracking of corrective actions to closure.
  • Drive capacity planning, load and performance testing, autoscaling and cost-efficiency of Azure-hosted application and analytics infrastructure.
  • Own reliability of the analytics stack (data pipelines, reporting and BI platforms such as Tableau) from a platform, availability and performance standpoint.
  • Review architecture and design of new services for resilience, fault tolerance, failover, graceful degradation and operability; provide architectural governance and cloud best practices.
  • Partner with development teams to improve build, release and deployment pipelines: safe rollouts, canary/blue-green strategies, rollback, release health checks and build structure.
  • Automate toil and operational workflows using Python or similar scripting languages and Infrastructure as Code.
  • Fully understand system inter-dependencies and limitations; functionally decompose complex problems into simple, straightforward solutions.
  • Exert technical influence over multiple teams, increasing their productivity and effectiveness by sharing deep knowledge and experience.
  • Mentor and guide engineers, assisting in their career development and coaching them on advanced technical issues.
  • Serve as SME for reliability trends, new and existing technologies, and architectural concepts; lead technical discussions with engineering leadership.
  • Be a self-starter who owns things from start to end with little oversight.

What skills do I need?

  • 12+ years of overall experience in Software Engineering.
  • At least 4+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering / production operations of web and API-based systems.
  • Strong hands-on experience with public cloud, preferably Azure (App Service, AKS/VMs, Application Gateway/Front Door, Load Balancers, VNets, Storage, Azure Monitor/Application Insights, Key Vault).
  • Deep understanding of operating and troubleshooting web applications and REST APIs in production: HTTP, load balancing, caching, CDN, TLS, DNS and networking fundamentals.
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring and observability tools (New Relic, Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, Azure Monitor or similar), including APM, log aggregation, distributed tracing, metrics and dashboards.
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and build structure (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, TeamCity, GitLab or similar): able to read, debug and improve pipelines, artifact management and release strategies. Deep DevOps specialization is not required.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM/Bicep or similar); configuration management experience (Ansible, Chef, Puppet) is a plus.
  • Solid experience in Python or a similar object-oriented or scripting language for automation.
  • Experience with microservices, distributed applications, containers (Docker/Kubernetes) and serverless on Azure.
  • Strong debugging skills on Windows and Linux, including IIS and .NET application troubleshooting (memory, CPU, thread and connection analysis).
  • Experience supporting analytics/reporting platforms or data pipelines (for example Tableau administration, ETL/ELT jobs, queues or streaming) is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of cloud security principles (identity and access, secrets management, network security, vulnerability remediation).
  • Experience with incident management, on-call practices, RCA and postmortems; excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Experience with the full software development lifecycle and delivery using Agile practices.
  • Good to have: Azure certifications (AZ-104, AZ-305, AZ-400) or equivalent.

Why Zenoti?

  • Be part of an innovative company that is revolutionizing the wellness and beauty industry.
  • Work with a dynamic and diverse team that values collaboration, creativity, and growth.
  • Opportunity to lead impactful projects and help shape the global success of Zenoti's platform.
  • Attractive compensation.
  • Medical coverage for yourself and your immediate family.
  • Access to regular yoga, meditation, breathwork, and stress management sessions. We also include your family in benefit awareness initiatives.
  • Regular social activities, and opportunities to give back through social work and community initiatives.
