About the Team & Role

Join eBay's Ad-Tech Innovation team and help build the next generation of advertising for millions of buyers and sellers worldwide. As a Lead Full Stack Engineer, you'll drive end-to-end development of scalable advertising solutions, from engaging user experiences to backend services and data platforms. You'll employ AI-powered development tools and collaborate with ML engineers to integrate LLM and agentic capabilities into next-generation ad products. This is a high-impact opportunity to solve complex challenges, influence technical direction, and accelerate innovation in a fast-growing ad-tech environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and build innovative advertising and commerce features that help eBay sellers and advertisers grow their business.

  • Develop scalable, highly available applications, APIs, and services using technologies such as React, Node.js, Java, and Scala.

  • Own end-to-end delivery of complex features, from technical design and architecture through deployment and production support.

  • Drive technical decisions, system design, and cross-team collaboration to ensure scalable, reliable, and maintainable solutions.

  • Leverage AI-powered development tools and workflows to improve engineering productivity, code quality, testing, and deployment efficiency.

  • Partner with ML and AI teams to develop intelligent advertising capabilities, including recommendations, automation, and AI-driven campaign management.

  • Contribute to a culture of continuous learning, Agile development, open-source collaboration, and rapid software delivery.

  • Mentor team members, participate in technical discussions, and help shape engineering best practices across the organization.

Qualifications

  • BS in Computer Science or related field with 10+ years of experience, or MS with 7+ years.

Technical Requirements

  • Strong experience building modern web applications with React (or similar frameworks), HTML/CSS, and responsive design.

  • Proficiency in backend development with Node.js, Java (17+), and Spring Boot.

  • Experience designing and building scalable APIs, distributed systems, and high-traffic applications.

  • Strong knowledge of messaging technologies (Kafka, RabbitMQ), relational and NoSQL databases, and data modeling.

Architecture & Engineering

  • Proven system design expertise with distributed systems, including scalability, reliability, and performance trade-offs.

  • Experience leading end-to-end technical design, architecture reviews, and cross-functional engineering initiatives.

  • Strong foundation in computer science fundamentals, including data structures and algorithms.

Tools & Practices

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern development tools.

  • Familiarity with AI-assisted engineering tools and AI-driven automation workflows.
