Forge & Build is hiring a Inventory Manager at our rental facility in Ashland, MO, and we’re looking for someone who’s ready to grow with us, bring energy and drive to their work, and help us build the future of construction. The Inventory Manager will be responsible for leading, implementing within the Forge & Build organization on cycle count execution, including accurate pricing, sku description, product labeling, and ensuring that the count in the store or yard is the same as what is in the electronic point of sale system.
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and offers overtime pay after working 40 hours. (This role is subject to on-call scheduling with additional compensation provided)
Primary Responsibilities
Inventory & Data Accuracy:
- Leads, coordinates and executes all inventory counts, including daily/monthly cycle counts and the annual physical inventory within all stores.
- Ensure physical inventory in the yard accurately matches the electronic point of sale (POS) system.
- Organize, reconcile, and maintain accurate SKUs, descriptions, and labeling across all stores.
- Provide weekly updates to Forge & Build leadership and store management regarding cycle count completion percentage and inventory shrink.
- Responsible for training and developing the store teams on proper cycle count procedures and BisTrack processes.
- Ensure all stores are following audit compliance procedures.
Process Optimization & Setup:
- Develop and implement standardized processes for inventory counts, maintenance, pricing, and descriptions (e.g., cycle count procedures, SKU audits).
- Audit items, suggesting consolidation or replacement of similar SKUs to streamline assortments and inventory.
- Collaborate on the coordination and setup of the new POS system and the company's online web store.
- Coordinate on-site visits with Inventory Specialist and Field Auditing team to ensure all pre audit procedures are being implemented.
Financial & Margin Analysis:
- Evaluate product margins and recommend strategic price updates to management to remain competitive and achieve positive gross margin targets.
General Support:
- Run inventory and performance reports as requested.
- Occasionally work the sales counter or other customer facing positions as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Skills & Qualifications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to utilize electronic technology, including Google and associated Google applications.
- Strong organizational and auditing skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Ability to learn and understand store and yard layout, products, and operational improvements.
- Ability to read and interpret SOPS, processes and procedures
- Required to have a valid drivers license
- Proficiency in training new store associates on inventory and operational guidelines.
Education and Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of retail management experience is required, preferably in a lumber or home center environment preferred
- Knowledge of building processes and estimating is preferred.
- Experience buying and selling lumber and building materials is preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs at a time.
- Ability to travel overnight to facilities up to 50%
- Ability to travel in between stores up to 100% of the time during scheduled hours
- Move self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces, which will require bending and stooping.
- May be required to work in extreme outside temperatures while assisting customers.
- Ability to stand, walk and sit at a computer for short and long periods of time.
