We are seeking an intermediate AWS Developer to join our Wealth Management Technology team. This role is responsible for designing, developing, and supporting scalable, secure, and high-performing cloud-native applications that support critical wealth management and investment platforms.

Working as part of a collaborative Agile team, you will leverage modern AWS services, Node.js, TypeScript, and event-driven architectures to deliver innovative solutions that integrate with portfolio management, market data, reporting, and enterprise platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain cloud-native applications using Node.js, TypeScript, and AWS.
• Build and enhance RESTful APIs, microservices, and serverless solutions.
• Develop event-driven applications using AWS Lambda, EventBridge, SNS, SQS, and Step Functions.
• Design and optimize relational database solutions using Amazon RDS and SQL.
• Create secure integrations with internal and external systems and data providers.
• Develop and maintain cloud infrastructure using AWS CDK and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices.
• Implement automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and logging solutions.
• Support application deployments, production issue resolution, and ongoing platform enhancements.
• Collaborate closely with architects, front-end developers, QA teams, product owners, and business stakeholders.
• Contribute to technical design, code reviews, engineering standards, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

Required

• 3 to 6 years of software development experience, including hands-on AWS cloud development.
• Strong experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and REST API development.
• Proven experience building microservices, serverless applications, and event-driven solutions.
• Hands-on experience with:
  • AWS Lambda
  • Amazon RDS
  • Amazon S3
  • Amazon SNS & SQS
  • Amazon EventBridge
  • AWS Step Functions
  • AWS CDK
  • Amazon CloudWatch
• Strong knowledge of SQL, relational databases, and data modelling.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing frameworks such as Jest.
• Understanding of cloud security, IAM, encryption, and secure software development practices.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
• Experience working within Agile delivery teams.

Preferred

• Experience with Angular and modern front-end development.
• Financial services, wealth management, asset management, or investment industry experience.
• Experience with Docker, API Gateway, DynamoDB, ECS, Fargate, AWS Batch, or AWS Glue.
• Knowledge of OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, and JWT authentication.
• AWS certifications (Developer Associate, Solutions Architect Associate, or DevOps Engineer Professional).
• Experience mentoring junior developers or providing technical leadership.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
