That means you will ensure that facilities provided are well maintained, regulation/procedure are in place and implemented, hazards/aspects assessments are conducted, the accident both caused by unsafe acts and conditions are reduced and energy and waste are driven down.

How you will contribute

You will:

  • Assist and lead the cultural transformation regarding HSE to help lead plant to achieve Zero accidents and Incidents
  • Be responsible for coordinating and overseeing implementation of all Health & Safety programs and processes
  • Participate in investigations to facilitate closure of identified non-conformances
  • Provide Health and Safety expertise for the plant for all new projects and change management activities
  • Follow up on non-conformances and develops the systems to resolve them based on root cause analysis
  • Maintain an up-to-date incident reporting system, assist with investigating incidents in conjunction with the HSE Pillar team/safety committee and drive the completion of corrective actions to eliminate root causes/reoccurrence
  • Develop technical guidance programs to identify and remove physical hazards`

  • Experience in Environmental Health and Safety
  • Must have completed Environmental Health and Safety training in areas such as OSHA, EPA, DNREC
  • Experience in safety, and/or environmental technical standards
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to work with individuals at all levels
  • Understanding and knowledge of regulatory reports and compliances including experience with ISO

What you need to know about this position:

HSE Management & Compliances:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain robust HSE management systems aligned with international and local statutory regulations and implementing Mondelez global standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable statutory and regulatory requirements (Factories Act, PESO, CPCB/SPCB, NBC, IS standards )
  • Track and ensure timely closure of all legal compliances and statutory reporting

Risk Assessments/Studies Assessments & Incident Management:

  • Lead Risk Management, HAZOP and other process safety relevant studies
  • Conduct thorough incident investigations and root cause analyses, drive CAPA implementation
  • Develop and maintain an up-to-date incident reporting system
  • Implement Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) programs

Safety Programs & Training: 

  • Design and deliver comprehensive HSE training programs for employees and contractors (LOTOTO, confined space, work at height, hot work, electrical safety, machine safety, fire safety and Process Safety)
  • Conduct safety inductions for new joiners and visitors
  • Lead safety campaigns and awareness programs across the site.

Machine & Process Safety:

  • Implement machine safety systems per  ISO and EN standards
  • Conduct machine safety risk assessments and ensure appropriate safeguards.
  • Oversee safe commissioning of new equipment and processes

Audits & Continuous Improvement:

  • Plan and conduct internal HSE audits, support external and corporate audits
  • Monitor and report HSE KPIs and KAIs; maintain safety dashboards and communication boards
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to achieve Zero Harm culture
  • Benchmark LTIFR and other metrics, implement data-driven improvement programs

Emergency Preparedness:

  • Develop and maintain Emergency Preparedness & Response Plans
  • Conduct regular mock drills , record findings and implement CAPA
  • Maintain fire safety systems (hydrants, extinguishers, smoke detectors, sprinklers)
  • Maintain safety equipment inventory

Environmental and Sustainability :

  • Monitor and manage environmental aspects – waste management, emissions, effluent compliance
  • Support sustainability initiatives and environmental reporting
  • Maintain site environmental programs and permits

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, contractors, and corporate HSE teams
  • Lead monthly HSE meetings, share best practices and learnings
  • Provide HSE expertise for new projects and change management activities
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies and external auditors

 

Key Competencies & Skills

  • Strong knowledge of HSE management systems, national and international.
  • Proficiency in HSE digital tools (Enablon, Gensuite, SAP HSE or equivalent)
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Strong communication and presentation skills; ability to influence at all levels
  • Leadership and team management capabilities
  • Contractor safety management experience
  • Knowledge of AI-based safety applications is a plus

Education / Certifications:


Graduation: B.Tech in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering (primary preference) from a Tier 1 / Tier 2 institute

Post-Graduation: Must have M. Tech/Post Graduation in Industrial Safety/HSE/HSE/SHE from premier institute


Experience Requirements

Industry Preference: Manufacturing, CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods) or Food Industry experience preferred

Hands-on experience in managing HSE  manufacturing / R&D / pilot plant sites


Certifications (Preferred)

  • ISO 45001 Lead Auditor (BSI / LRQA or equivalent)
  • ISO 14001 Lead Auditor
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP®) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP®) from BCSP
  • NEBOSH IGC
  • Certified First Aider
  • Process Safety Management certification
