Job Summary:

HKEX is looking for a highly motivated and proven communications leader to join its Communications team. As Head of Executive Engagement & Events, the seasoned executive will oversee strategies that elevate the visibility of our senior leadership, strengthen stakeholder engagement, and support HKEX's strategic priorities through impactful and creative experiences.

The successful candidate will lead a versatile team of communications specialists, with a focus on curating signature programmes and events across the Group and its business functions, whilst supporting the public engagements of our top executives, positioning them as key voices in global financial markets.

Reporting to the Group Chief Communications Officer, the successful candidate must have experience working with C-suite executives and must be able to demonstrate a solid track record of excellent judgement, leadership and talent development.

We are looking for a dynamic individual who not only possesses strong professional relationships in the conferences and broader communications networks, but can help design and lead high-profile communications campaigns, embracing innovation and creativity in the delivery of their work.

The successful candidate will be well-networked, and have senior communications or marketing experience in areas such as public affairs, brand and reputation management, and content development. Importantly, we are looking for a trusted manager and passionate team player with an eye for detail who could lead and inspire their team members.

HKEX’s Corporate Communications Division is responsible for shaping the Group’s brand visibility and helping drive external and internal engagements and awareness that help protect and enhance the reputation of its business. We are committed to proactively communicating HKEX’s strategy and its latest developments, maintaining the Group’s high standards of transparency and managing HKEX’s relations with key stakeholder groups. The Corporate Communications Division oversees Financial and Executive Communications, Media Relations and Social Media, Internal and Digital Communications, Brand, Content and Speechwriting, Executive Engagements and Events, Film Production, and Translation.

The successful candidate will work closely with the communications leadership team in delivering a successful and robust communications programme for HKEX.

Job Duties:

Job Responsibilities

The Head of Executive Engagement & Events will have the following responsibilities, though the exact remit will be determined by the individual and their experiences:

  • Develop and drive a comprehensive executive engagement programme aligned to HKEX's corporate and business priorities, partnering closely with the senior management team to enhance their external visibility and influence 

  • Design and manage executive participation at industry forums, conferences, and international engagements; identify strategic opportunities to elevate their market influence.

  • Provide strategic counsel and support on executive communications, ensuring consistent executive messaging that is aligned with corporate strategy imperatives.

  • Lead the strategic planning and creative execution of corporate events, conferences, market forums, listing experiences and other executive engagements, overseeing event strategy from concept through delivery.

  • Drive innovation in event design, audience engagement and experience delivery, while collaborating with business leaders to showcase strategic themes and market developments.

  • Lead and develop a high-performing team of communications specialists, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. 

Qualifications & Experience

  • University educated, preferably in journalism, communications, finance, business management or a related discipline

  • Experience in working in listed financial services, capital markets, or fintech companies. Broader experience and understanding of the latest technological and AI trends would be a plus

  • Minimum 15+ years of experience in executive communications, strategic communications, marketing, events or related disciplines, with proven managerial experience. 

  • Exceptional stakeholder relationship management skills, with proven experience advising C-suite executives and senior leadership teams.

  • Demonstrated success in leading high-profile events, stakeholder engagement programs and executive engagement initiatives.

  • Excellent spoken and written English and Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua)

  • Be a strong team player and a motivated self starter, and be able to demonstrate the HKEX values of Integrity, Excellence, Diversity, Engagement and Collaboration
