The Team:
Reporting directly to the Managing Director of Finance, the Global Tax and Compliance Manager is a key member of the Unison finance and investment teams. The candidate will partner with Unison executives and external consultants to identify and implement tax and accounting strategies across multinational operations. The candidate will lead the day-to-day compliance operations, with direct responsibility for all tax and compliance activities.
The Job:
Global tax compliance
- Coordinate corporate income tax returns across jurisdictions.
- Manage VAT and other indirect tax compliance.
- Maintain tax calendars and ensure timely filings/payments.
- Manage tax audits and tax authority correspondence.
Entity / statutory compliance
- Maintain compliance calendar across the group.
- Coordinate statutory accounts, annual returns and local filings.
- Work with Luxembourg and other local corporate administrators.
- Maintain entity documentation and corporate records.
Transfer pricing / intercompany
- Coordinate transfer-pricing documentation.
- Monitor intercompany agreements and charges.
- Ensure management fees, intercompany financing and other arrangements are implemented consistently with documentation.
Tax structuring and transactions
- Support acquisitions, dispositions, refinancings, restructurings and distributions.
- Coordinate tax advisers around Luxembourg holding structures and local-country entities.
- Model or coordinate withholding tax, interest deductibility, participation exemption and repatriation considerations.
- Track implementation of tax steps following transactions.
External adviser management
- Serve as primary internal coordinator for tax advisers and corporate-service providers.
- Challenge advisers rather than simply forwarding information back and forth.
- Control adviser scope, fees and deadlines.
Ad-hoc Analysis:
- Conduct ad-hoc financial analyses as required to support global business decisions
- Provide insights and recommendations based on financial data from multiple entities and currencies
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, Economics, or a related field.
- Professional accounting or tax qualification preferred.
- 5+ years of relevant tax, finance or compliance experience, preferably in an international or multinational environment.
- Experience with corporate income tax, VAT and other tax compliance requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
- Experience with transfer pricing and intercompany arrangements.
- Experience coordinating statutory and corporate compliance across multiple legal entities.
- Strong understanding of accounting and financial statements, with the ability to work effectively with accounting teams and underlying financial data.
- Experience working with external tax advisers, auditors, legal counsel and corporate-service providers.
- Experience supporting acquisitions, disposals, refinancings or corporate restructurings preferred.
- Strong Excel skills and experience working with ERP and financial reporting systems.
- Highly analytical and organized, with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
