Compensation: $15-$25 per hour

1. Overview

Join a high-impact Trust & Safety team responsible for protecting a large, consumer-facing platform from fraud, manipulation, and abuse. In this role, you will work closely with Product, Engineering, Operations, and other cross-functional teams to investigate complex and ambiguous abuse patterns, identify root causes, and develop data-driven approaches to mitigate risk.

You will use investigative thinking, analytical skills, and sound judgment to uncover deceptive or manipulative behavior. Over time, you will develop specialized expertise across different forms of content and reviews abuse while helping strengthen the platform's overall trust and safety ecosystem.

We are looking for professionals with proven experience in fraud detection, investigations, risk analysis, and data-driven decision-making. Relevant backgrounds may include insurance fraud, forensic accounting, banking and financial crimes, risk management, or similar investigative disciplines. CFE or ACFE certification is a plus but not required.

2. Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate complex and ambiguous fraud or abuse cases from initial identification through final resolution.
  • Analyze multiple data sources and signals to identify suspicious, deceptive, or manipulative activity.
  • Detect patterns, anomalies, and emerging abuse trends across content and review systems.
  • Develop data-backed conclusions while keeping user trust, platform integrity, and risk mitigation at the forefront.
  • Design and support new detection approaches, investigative experiments, and analytical frameworks.
  • Prepare detailed case reports that clearly explain findings, evidence, root causes, and recommended actions.
  • Translate complex analytical and policy-related findings into clear, actionable insights for cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Operations, and Policy teams to improve fraud and abuse detection mechanisms.
  • Present investigative findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
  • Maintain thorough observation notes and documentation to support consistent decision-making.

3. Work Setup

  • Work Arrangement: Full-time, onsite in India
  • Working Hours: Must be available during India Standard Time (IST) working hours
  • Workspace: Requires a private and secure workspace due to the sensitive nature of the content and investigations.
  • Project Experience: Prior experience working on an AI/data-related project is mandatory.

4. Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4+ years of professional experience in data analysis, including identifying trends, developing summary statistics, and converting raw data into actionable decisions.
  • 4+ years of experience managing ambiguous, open-ended analytical or investigative projects from beginning to end.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and Python for data analysis and investigation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with an ability to work efficiently in complex situations.
  • Experience investigating fraud, abuse, risk, anomalies, or suspicious activity.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex policies and analytical findings in straightforward language.
  • Demonstrated experience presenting analytical insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to produce comprehensive case assessments, investigation reports, and detailed observation notes.

5. Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience understanding how fraud, manipulation, and abuse evolve across online platforms.
  • Background in fraud investigations, risk management, program management, policy operations, customer or merchant experience, or business strategy.
  • Exposure to content moderation, policy enforcement, customer support operations, or policy development.
  • Strong critical-thinking skills and a highly detail-oriented approach to investigations.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML, generative AI, or automated fraud-detection systems.
  • CFE or ACFE certification is an advantage.
  • Experience working with trust & safety, online marketplaces, social platforms, review systems, or other high-volume consumer products.
