Montgomery College, Germantown Campus, seeks candidates for a Full-time Food Security & Basic Needs Program Coordinator for the Office of Student Life. The work schedule is Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm with occasional evenings and weekends. This is a

Non-Bargaining, Exempt, Grade 27 position. This position is eligible for telework 1 day(s) a week.

Telework eligibility and total days per week are subject to change based on the operational needs of the applicable unit/area. Montgomery College does not currently offer voluntary remote work, or withhold payroll taxes for states outside of its tax reciprocity agreements. As a result, employees must reside in, and perform any approved telework from Maryland, Washington, DC, Virginia, West Virginia, Delaware, or Pennsylvania. Employees residing in other states at the time of hire are not eligible for telework until they have secured a permanent residence in one of the states listed above.

Under general supervision, the incumbent is responsible for supporting individuals in accessing essential resources, including food, and other basic necessities. This role involves coordinating programs and services that address food insecurity and related challenges, developing partnerships with community organizations, and promoting awareness of available resources

Contacts include students, staff and administrators across the organization and community partners to ensure food security resource and basic needs programs are adequate and affordable to the college community.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Develop, implement, and coordinate food security programming and services. Support and enhance connections, help ensure students’ fundamental needs are met so they can fully engage in campus life, thrive academically, and achieve personal and professional success. Support student life programs and initiatives. 
  • Oversee and expand food security programs, including on-campus food pantries, emergency meal assistance, mobile markets, and clothing pantry initiatives, ensuring these resources are integrated into the broader student life experience. Collaborate closely with Student Life faculty, staff, and student leaders to align basic needs services with co-curricular programming that fosters a sense of belonging and promotes holistic student development. Conduct proactive outreach to raise awareness of available resources through events, workshops, peer-led initiatives, marketing campaigns, and social media. Work to reduce stigma around seeking support by embedding basic needs conversations into student life programming and wellness efforts. 
  • Track utilization of basic needs services and program participation. Assess effectiveness of services and programming through surveys, focus groups, and data analysis. Prepare regular reports for internal stakeholders and grant funders, as needed. 
  • Develop and implement inclusive, needs-based programming tailored to specific student groups and to both emerging and standard community needs, including Veteran students, sexual health and domestic and sexual violence prevention education.
  • Coordinate and facilitate general wellness and basic needs education for the broader student body. Organize workshops, events, and educational campaigns on topics including nutrition, budgeting, and meal preparation.  
  • Ensure programming is trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and aligned with federal compliance, national best practices and local trends.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with local food banks and suppliers, nonprofit organizations, and county support services. Coordinate and manage food resources/inventory, ensuring a consistent supply of non-perishable goods and fresh produce.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in public health, social work, psychology, nutrition, or related field or an equivalent combination of education, training, certifications, or experience that demonstrates the ability to effectively perform the essential functions of the job may be substituted.
  • Three years of experience working with student support programs in higher education.
  • Experience in managing, coordinator, or developing food security and basic needs programs or initiatives. 
  • Eligible applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States and not require employer visa sponsorship.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Valid Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Higher education experience

Hiring Range: $67,557 - $87,813 annually. Initial salary placement for new hires falls between the minimum and midpoint of the range and is based on relevant candidate experience and internal equity.  The maximum salary for this position is $108,068 annually.
