Business Controller – Global Technology

(Financial Control, Planning & Analysis, Cost Management, SOX Reporting, and Management Reporting)

Help ensure reliable financial control, accurate reporting, and strong financial governance across the Group Technology Domain

At ING, we believe banking should make life easier, not more complicated. Behind that mission is a team of finance professionals who provide the insights and transparency that help the business make better decisions.

We’re looking for a Business Controller – Global Technology to join ING Hubs Philippines as an integrated member of Global Finance. If you are skilled at validating financial results, strengthening controls, analyzing variances, and turning complex data into clear management insights, we’d like to hear from you.

Role Summary

As a Business Controller – Global Technology within ING’s Global Finance team, you will prepare high-quality management information for Finance & Risk (F&R), Retail Banking & Technology (RBT), and the Chief Information Security Office (CISO). Your analysis will support the effective management of a technology cost base of approximately €300 million.

Success in this role requires strong accountability for the reliability, accuracy, and integrity of financial data, together with a sound understanding of the technology lifecycle and its financial and non-financial drivers—from innovation through implementation and operations. You should bring curiosity, agility, and confidence, perform effectively in a fast-paced environment, and communicate assertively with driven and capable colleagues.

About the Team

You will join an established and diverse Global Finance community that partners with ING’s Global Technology organization across multiple locations, while being based at ING Hubs Philippines. Working alongside senior controllers and international stakeholders, you will turn complex financial data into clear insights, and support decisions related to strategic priorities and technology innovation. The role offers high visibility, international exposure, and a direct opportunity to improve business performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review actuals and validate the month-end close
  • Deliver management reporting and clear, evidence-based commentary on performance, variances, risks, and opportunities.
  • Challenge assumptions and provide actionable financial insights to Finance and Global Technology stakeholders.
  • Own recurring and ad hoc financial control deliverables, ensuring timely, accurate, and high-quality outputs.
  • Identify and resolve financial risks, data inconsistencies, control gaps, and improvement opportunities.
  • Support SOX reporting and analysis with accurate, timely, and audit-ready data and evidence.
  • Execute budget transfer between entities
  • Own a certain department within Tech F&R-Finance & Procurement by doing forecasting and presenting the monthly report.

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field; CPA, CMA, CFA, or a master’s degree is an advantage.
  • Strong business acumen in the Global Technology domain, including practical knowledge of IT operations and technology cost controlling.
  • Experience working in a complex global matrix organization; exposure to banking, technology, shared services, or multinational environments is preferred.
  • Strong expertise in month-end close, actuals reporting, planning, forecasting, cost management, variance analysis, and management commentary.
  • A structured and rigorous control mindset, with the ability to validate financial movements, challenge inconsistencies, and deliver accurate, audit-ready outputs.
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills; experience with Hyperion, SmartView, Oracle EPM, Power BI, or Power Query is an advantage.
  • Strong ownership, sound judgment, and proactive follow-through across financial control, SOX reporting, and performance management activities.

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to work in a truly international environment.
  • Exposure to senior stakeholders and strategic business discussions.
  • A role with meaningful impact on business performance and decision-making.
  • Opportunities for continuous learning, professional development, and career growth.
  • A collaborative and diverse workplace where your ideas and expertise are valued.
