Moneycare walks alongside people during some of the most challenging moments of their financial journey. As a Financial Capability Worker, you will help community members build confidence, skills and long-term financial capability so they can make informed decisions and feel more in control of their future. This is meaningful, relational work that strengthens wellbeing, dignity and independence.

About the role

In this role, you will work to engage community groups, provide community workshops, facilitate one on one money worries support, and share money education to eligible people across the Northern Territory.

You will work within the Moneycare Practice Framework and The Salvation Army Mission and Values, offering a safe, respectful and empowering service. This role does not include providing financial counselling, financial advice or support with complex financial or legal matters. This is a permanent full-time role, with the option to negotiate 0.8 FTE. Pay is in accordance with SCHADS Level 3.

How you will make an impact:

  • Empower people to build confidence and skills to manage their money

  • Deliver money planning workshops and capability building activities that meet the unique needs of the community members involved

  • Provide a safe, nonjudgmental and culturally respectful service

  • Support people to access services and strengthen community connections

  • Develop collaborative, person centred case plans

  • Maintain accurate records and data in SAMIS

  • Contribute to a high quality, community member focused Moneycare service

  • Promote dignity, choice and self-determination in every interaction

What you will bring:

  • Cert III in Community Services or related field or willingness to obtain

  • Financial Literacy Education Skill Set or willingness to obtain

  • Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds

  • Understanding of local Aboriginal communities and culture

  • Strong communication skills, including working with people who may not have English as a first language

  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities

  • Demonstrated money management and negotiation skills

  • Ability to operate autonomously and within the Moneycare team and the site team

  • Ability to work with people experiencing hardship or crisis

  • A person centred, relational and strengths-based approach

  • Current Working with Children's Check (Orche Card)
