About this Experience Centre Design Consultant role at GE Appliances

GE Appliances · Onsite · FPA Auckland Experience Centre

The Role

Fisher & Paykel is an iconic New Zealand brand, a global company with a strong local heritage. Our origins inspire a culture of curiosity and passion for developing solutions designed around people. That's what makes us unique.

We're driven by our values of being trusted, sustainably minded, innovative, generous and curious. We take a collaborative approach, and all ideas are heard, evaluated and tested against our leading goal: to be the world's most human-centred appliance brand.

We're recruiting a Design Consultant for our flagship Experience Centre in Auckland, the home of Fisher & Paykel design. The Experience Centre is a specially designed and curated space. It has signature products, beautiful display areas that show our appliances as they would appear in the home, interactive digital displays and a resident chef.  A premium destination at the intersection of design and luxury, where architects, designers, builders and their clients experience the world of Fisher and Paykel firsthand.

This role is a great step for someone early in their design, luxury retail or hospitality career who wants to grow into a specification-focused design role. You'll be the welcoming face of the Experience Centre and learn from experienced colleagues. We'll support you to build your product, design and industry knowledge along the way.

This is where you come in

You'll be a brand ambassador, and often the first impression of Fisher and Paykel for specifiers, designers, architects and visitors to the centre. You'll host visitors on tours, using brand storytelling and product insights to show how our appliances solve real design problems. You'll build rapport and confidence with the design community, supporting our specifier clients with your growing design knowledge and product expertise.

What you'll do

  • Welcome walk-in and booked guests, and host premium tours that tell the F&P story
  • Build rapport with specifiers, designers, architects and their clients
  • Keep the Experience Centre inbox, calendar, bookings and phone enquiries running smoothly
  • Support design consultations and spot specification opportunities, with guidance from senior colleagues
  • Help host day and evening events, and support chef-led culinary experiences
  • Keep the space immaculate and role model safe working practices
  • Build your knowledge of our products, cabinetry and integration

You'll report to the Design Engagement Lead. This is a full-time role, Tuesday to Saturday, with occasional after-hours events.

About you

  • You're passionate about design and love making people feel welcome
  • You have premium or luxury retail, hospitality, showroom, appliance or building industry experience. Transferable experience from early in your career is welcome.
  • You're a clear, warm communicator with an eye for detail and an appetite to learn
  • You're organised, confident in Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and comfortable with floor plans, or keen to learn
  • A tertiary qualification in Design (e.g. Interior, Architectural or Product), Marketing or Business is preferred. Design credentials (e.g. AKBD, CKD) are a bonus

What we offer

A competitive salary, ongoing development and real room to grow, in a global company headquartered in New Zealand. You'll also enjoy generous discounts across Fisher & Paykel and Haier products.
