Escalator Field Trainer – Installations | Nationwide 

Our escalator business has grown by 50% in the last 12 months, and we're investing in our people to make sure our technical capability grows with it. 

We're looking for an Escalator Field Trainer to support our Installation teams across the UK, combining technical training with hands-on coaching in the field. 

This is a nationwide role, giving you the opportunity to work across different projects, teams and locations and have a real impact on engineering capability across the business. You'll spend much of your time out in the field, with regular overnight stays during the working week – travel and overtime are paid. 

You'll support around 15 apprentices and improvers, alongside our skilled engineers, helping to build competence, improve installation quality and create consistent standards nationwide. 

What will you be doing? 

• Coaching apprentices, improvers and skilled engineers to develop their technical competence 

• Delivering training on escalator installation, fault finding, repair and working methods 

• Providing technical support and coaching during live installation work 

• Supporting the introduction of new products, tools, methods and processes 

• Identifying skills and competence gaps and providing targeted development 

• Carrying out practical assessments and completing Pathway sign-off 

• Providing early intervention where quality or capability issues are identified 

• Helping to reduce snags, errors and repeat visits 

• Promoting KONE safety, quality and installation standards 

• Sharing technical knowledge and best practice across the field organisation 

• Working closely with supervisors, technical specialists and operational teams 

• Supporting continuous improvement in quality, productivity and technical capability

By providing dedicated technical coaching and early intervention, you'll help developing engineers build competence faster, reduce avoidable errors and allow our experienced engineers to focus their time where their skills are needed most.

What are we looking for? 

You'll bring strong practical escalator engineering experience, ideally with a significant background in installation, and the technical credibility to coach others in a live working environment. 

You don't necessarily need to be a professional trainer. What's more important is your ability to share your technical knowledge, provide constructive coaching and adapt your approach to apprentices, improvers and experienced engineers. 

You'll enjoy being out in the field, working with different teams and travelling across the UK. You'll also need the flexibility to work away from home regularly during the week, with multiple overnight stays required. 

Most importantly, you'll have a genuine passion for developing people, improving quality and raising technical standards. 

What we require from you: 

• Full UK driving licence 

• CSCS card 

• NVQ Level 3 Escalator Installation (QCF) programme 

• Significant hands-on escalator installation experience
