Job Description Summary
GE Vernova is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager, Verification and Validation to join our FACTS STATCOM team in Saratoga Springs, NY. This role will lead the verification and validation function for advanced control systems used in high-power reactive compensation applications, including STATCOM and SVC systems.The position combines people leadership, technical oversight, laboratory ownership, and project execution. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in verification and validation of power system controls, real-time testing, and team leadership, along with the ability to work effectively with customers and cross-functional stakeholders.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
- Lead the operation and continuous improvement of the RTDS laboratory, including test automation, tool enhancements, process development and long-term capability development
- Manage and develop the local STATCOM engineering team, including work planning, prioritization, coaching, mentoring, and performance management
- Own verification and validation scope on projects, including deliverables, schedules, technical interfaces, and compliance with customer requirements
- Plan and oversee control system, protection, and system-level testing, including laboratory validation, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing, and support for commissioning
- Review test results, drive issue resolution, and ensure timely closure of validation findings
- Support customer discussions, technical reviews, and tendering activities related to testing and validation
- Ensure high-quality technical documentation, including validation plans, procedures, specifications, and test reports
- Promote safe laboratory operations by identifying EHS risks and implementing improvements
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, technical excellence, and continuous improvement
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or related field
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in verification, validation, testing, or control systems engineering within power systems or power electronics applications
- Minimum of 5 years of Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams, technical workstreams, or functional activities
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with real-time testing, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), or laboratory validation of control systems
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience with RTDS or similar real-time digital simulation platforms
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with control theory, power system dynamics, and grid-connected devices
- Fluent in English (spoken and written)
Desired Qualifications
- Master’s degree or higher in Power Systems, Control Systems, or Power Electronics
- Experience with STATCOM, SVC, or similar technologies
- Strong understanding of power electronics and compensation systems
- Experience leading teams in a project-driven engineering environment
- Experience supporting customer technical discussions, design reviews, and negotiations
- Experience with test automation and laboratory process improvement
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent is a plus
Location and Travel
- Based in Saratoga Springs, NY
- Willingness to travel approximately 10–25% for testing, commissioning, and customer engagements

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $113,200.00 and $188,800.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.
Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
