We are an in-office company, and our expectation is that full-time employees primarily work from their Applied Intuition office 5 days a week. However, we also recognize the importance of flexibility and trust our employees to manage their schedules responsibly. This may include occasional remote work, starting the day with morning meetings from home before heading to the office, or leaving earlier when needed to accommodate family commitments. This in-office expectation does not apply to contractor positions

About the role
We're hiring an Engineering Lead for our Tokyo SDS team in Tokyo. You'll begin by owning the technical work: bringing our L2++ stack up on vehicles with Japanese OEMs and setting the architecture the team will build on.
At Applied Intuition, you will:
Lead a world-class group of engineers focused on building and deploying scalable behavior systems for cars
Own technical delivery of SDS for Japanese customers
Serve as the primary technical partner to Japanese OEM engineering teams
Define the Tokyo team's engineering roadmap in partnership with SDS teams in HQ
Drive the overall strategy, technical roadmap, and architecture dedicated to L2 and L4 autonomous vehicles for cars
We're looking for someone who has:
6+ years of experience building software for autonomous vehicles, robotics, or ADAS, including work that shipped
Strong C++ with a track record of production-quality code in safety-relevant or real-time systems
Depth in at least two of: perception, prediction, behavior and motion planning, control, sensor fusion, on-vehicle systems and middleware
Experience taking a system from prototype to on-vehicle deployment
Demonstrated ability to architect large-scale, production software for real-world robotic or automotive systems
Proven leadership experience managing engineering teams, setting goals, and overseeing technical projects
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Nice to have:
Direct experience on a production L2/L2++ program that reached customer vehicles
Business-level English and Japanese
Prior experience leading engineering teams
