Organization's Summary Statement:

This position is responsible for the administration of the Talent Search-Central program, including planning, implementation, supervision of staff members, recruitment, and selection of students. Delivery of approved grant required services, and communication with counseling staff and school administration in selected high schools and middle schools in Prince George's County. Works with the Director of Finance and Administration on budget planning, implementation, accounting, and monthly reporting. Responsible for first level drafting of program grant proposals and budget, and various reports.


EXAMPLES OF WORK:

Develops program marketing materials.

Supervises program activities, including college visits and cultural events.

Develops and supervises summer Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEAM) immersion learning programs.

Develops, implements and evaluates an effective data system to sustain program federal review and to meet program federal and Academic Achievement Program reporting requirements.

Manages a team of professional and support staff.

Other duties as assignedPreferences:

5 - 10 years of experience providing leadership and directorial oversight for a federally funded TRIO Talent Search program or a nonprofit program with a similar mission.

The Program Director, Talent Search Central has first-line authority and responsibility for the administration of the Talent Search Central program, including planning, implementation, staff supervision, recruitment and selection of 700 students annually, delivery of approved grant services, and communication with counseling staff and school administrators in targeted Prince George's County Public Schools.

The Program Director is responsible for developing program marketing materials in collaboration with the Executive Director and supervising program activities, including college visits and cultural events. The Program Director will also oversee the development and implementation of a summer Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) immersion program for approximately 50 participants.

 

The Program Director is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating effective data, documentation, and record-keeping systems to support federal reviews and meet program, federal, and AAP reporting requirements, including the Annual Performance Report (APR) to the U.S. Department of Education (USDE) and internal reports to the Executive Director.

 

The Program Director will work in collaboration with the Director of Finance and Administration on budget planning, implementation, accounting, and reporting and will meet with the Executive Director as needed. The Program Director is also responsible for the initial drafting of the program grant proposal, budget, and other reports for review by the Executive Director prior to submission to USDE or other appropriate stakeholders.

Responsibilities

 

(50%) Program Administration:

- Oversee the day-to-day operations, implementation, supervision, and evaluation of all aspects of the Talent Search Central program.

- Oversee communication and marketing of the program to schools, students, and parents.

- Report to the Executive Director on program administration and progress.

(20%) Outreach and Recruitment:

- Collaborate with administrators in targeted Prince George's County Public Schools to facilitate effective community outreach.

- Promote the program and coordinate public relations, recruitment, and selection of Talent Search participants.

(15%) Leadership and Supervision:

- Provide leadership and monitor program activities, goals, and objectives.

- Supervise program staff.

- Assist with evaluating all aspects of the Talent Search Central program.

- Work with the Executive Director to establish and maintain effective relationships with the Prince George's County Board of Education.

- Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director to support program success and high-quality service delivery.

(15%) Data Management and Reporting:

- Develop and implement effective data collection forms and evaluation instruments to assess the program's impact on student persistence, performance, graduation, and postsecondary enrollment.

- Prepare the Annual Performance Report (APR) for review by the Executive Director and submission to USDE.

Physical Demands:

Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Must have the ability to lift and carry parcels, packages, and other items, walk short distances, and drive a vehicle to deliver and pick up materials.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Ten (10) years of experience working in education or with youth. Five (5) years of experience supervising or managing professional staff.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

Knowledge of best practices in working with low-income and students from first generation backgrounds.
Knowledge of Academic Achievement Programs.
Skill in oral and written communication.
Skill in the use of Microsoft Office and Google Workspace products.
Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.
Ability to multitask while demonstrating a commitment to customer service.
