Summary:

The Director Programming provides operational leadership for the bioinformatics programming function. The role involves evaluating workloads, resources process and technology for efficient operation of the department and ensuring systems are in place to produce quality work efficiently allowing for continual growth of department. Additionally, the Director Programming consults with project team sponsor and other clients agencies on project related issues and acts in the project oversight role on multiple projects.

What you will do:

  • Manage staff which may include interviewing and selection job description preparation professional development goal setting performance management behavioral and technical coaching and mentoring employee counseling and separations.

  • Approve courses of action on salary administration hiring corrective action and terminations. Review and approve time records expense reports requests for leave and overtime.

  • Promotes all aspects of companies Equal Employment Opportunity policy and Affirmative Action Plan Assure department adherence to good scientific ethical and regulatory standards Inform senior leadership of department activities accomplishments and needs.

  • Participate in long range strategic planning development of departmental business plan and departmental budget.

  • Prepare bids for marketing and business development Communicate company and department policies and priorities to department staff and ensure compliance.

  • Oversee resource planning and utilization rate for the department Ensure appropriate personnel resources are applied to department projects based on priorities and relative complexity.

  • Provide project oversight role and consultation for teams on clinical trial projects Review andor approve documents related to project activities.

  • Participate in project development and FDA meetings concerning investigational and marketed drugs assigned to the department.

Education Experience Requirements:

MS/MA degree in computer science statistics biostatistics mathematics or related field and at least 12 years of experience that provides the knowledge skills and abilities to perform the job requirements or Bachelors degree in computer science statistics biostatistics mathematics or related field or equivalent and relevant formal academic vocational qualification and at least 12 years of experience that provides the knowledge skills and abilities to perform the job requirements.

Preferred is at least 12 years of clinical trial experience as a statistical programmer and at least 5 years of leadership experience. Years of experience refers to typical years of related experience needed to gain the required knowledge skills and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the job. Years of experience are not to be used as the only determining factor in establishing the job class or making employment selection decisions.

Knowledge Skills Abilities:

  • Capable of leading multidisciplinary groups across sites

  • Capable of recognizing the need for process improvement and carry forward process improvement objectives including researching new technologies and software

  • Superior SAS programming skills and understanding of database structures Superior management skills including Expertise in managing and developing staff and their career objectives and the ability to motivate and inspire staff Capable of facilitating communication with clients project teams departments and staff Proven decision making skills to decide company policies and procedures regarding programming

  • Proven leadership motivation and problem solving capability Extensive understanding of clinical trials

  • Excellent attention to detail Capable of effectively organizing and managing multiple staff and assignments

  • Excellent problem solving skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills including proficiency in the English language Demonstrated positive attitude enthusiasm toward work and the ability to work well with others and adjust to changing priorities

  • Proven proficiency in at least one programming language and strong technical programming skills

  • Capable of effectively interacting with clients and making business development presentations

Working Conditions and Environment:

  • Work is performed in an office laboratory and or a clinical environment Exposure to electrical office equipment Occasional drives to site locations frequent domestic travel and rare international travel
