Truliant Federal Credit Union · Onsite · Winston-Salem, NC

Truliant’s mission is to improve lives by putting our members first, providing great service and straightforward financial solutions. Our core values of Member Focus, Service, Guidance, Relationships, and Community define how we interact with members to fulfill our mission of improving lives and providing a foundation on which we conduct ourselves.

Our Promise to Our Teammates: Truliant strives to provide all teammates with an enjoyable place to work where they feel valued, empowered and rewarded for all that they do.

Why this role matters

At Truliant Federal Credit Union, reliable and secure technology helps our teams serve members with confidence. As Director of IT Data Center and Network Engineering, you’ll shape the strategy behind our data center, cloud, network, and telecom environments while ensuring they can scale with the business.

This is an opportunity for a technology leader who enjoys building strong teams, modernizing complex infrastructure, and turning long-term strategy into dependable day-to-day performance.

What you’ll do

In this role, you’ll lead the teams and strategy responsible for Truliant’s core infrastructure. You’ll balance operational stability, security, scalability, and cost while advancing cloud-first capabilities and keeping technology aligned with business priorities.

Day to day, you’ll:

  • Guide the design, deployment, and ongoing performance of data center, cloud, network, telecom, storage, compute, backup, LAN, SD-WAN, and related infrastructure.
  • Build and develop high-performing engineering teams while overseeing staffing, coaching, priorities, delivery methods, and operational results.
  • Partner with executives, business leaders, Risk, Legal, Vendor Management, and strategic sourcing to guide roadmaps, budgets, vendor relationships, contracts, governance, and disaster recovery readiness.

Beyond that, you’ll identify opportunities to automate and simplify work, review operational and risk metrics, influence enterprise technology decisions, and serve as an escalation point when teams need a practical path forward.

What you bring

We’re looking for a strategic, hands-on technology leader who can connect infrastructure decisions to business outcomes, communicate clearly with technical and executive audiences, and create an environment where teams can do their best work.

This role is a great fit if you have:

Required Experience:

  • 8+ years of equivalent IT work experience.
  • 5+ years of demonstrated leadership experience in a related IT role within a medium-to-large enterprise, including on-premises infrastructure and outsourced or cloud services.
  • 5+ years of experience in technology procurement and asset tracking.
  • At least 1 year of experience in each of the following: application support for internally developed and third-party solutions; modern on-premises and cloud infrastructure planning and implementation; and hands-on software, hardware, and data management troubleshooting.

Required Skills:

  • Lead infrastructure strategy, technical project implementation, and engineering delivery using waterfall, agile, or hybrid approaches.
  • Apply operational knowledge of SD-WAN, VPN, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, IPSec, firewalls, routing, and switching.
  • Apply operational knowledge of telephony technologies, including SIP, VoIP, SBC, unified communications, call processing, automated attendants, ACD queues, and skill assignments.
  • Administer and manage licensing for VMware vCenter, vSphere ESXi, VMware Horizon VDI, and supporting products.
  • Work with cloud computing protocols and standards across Azure, AWS, or GCP, and support infrastructure decisions spanning on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Interpret technical documentation, research technology issues, analyze complex problems, and implement practical efficiency improvements.
  • Manage budgets, capacity, vendors, contracts, risk considerations, and executive-level operational reporting.
  • Communicate clearly in English, verbally and in writing, and translate technical priorities for executives, department leaders, engineers, and business partners.

Education/Certifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or a related field, or a Bachelor of Arts degree.

You should also be comfortable making independent decisions, adjusting resources and priorities as needs change, working with minimal supervision, and maintaining a strong commitment to excellent member service.

What sets you apart

You don’t need to check every box, but here’s what will help you thrive in this role:

  • Experience shaping disaster recovery strategy across network, telecom, on-premises, and cloud environments.
  • Exposure to infrastructure that supports robotic process automation, advanced data analytics, or artificial intelligence capabilities.
  • Experience contributing to enterprise technology governance, long-range cloud planning, or cross-functional roadmap decisions.

What you’ll get

We believe in supporting our team members both professionally and personally.

In this role, you can expect:

  • A visible leadership opportunity to shape infrastructure strategy that supports Truliant’s member-focused mission.
  • The chance to modernize a broad technology environment spanning data center, cloud, network, telecom, disaster recovery, and emerging capabilities.
  • Meaningful partnership with executive leaders and teams across the credit union, with the ability to influence priorities and long-term decisions.
  • Opportunities to grow leaders, strengthen engineering practices, and build a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • A comprehensive benefits package and a workplace focused on professional development, reliable service, and the success of both members and team members.
