About this Digital Navigator & Podcast Technician (Community Resource EnVision Center) role at Lead For America

Lead For America · Onsite · Sandpoint, Idaho, United States

Note: This is a full-time ACC AmeriCorps position with Community Resource EnVision Center.

About the American Connection Corps:

The American Connection Corps (ACC), an AmeriCorps program of Lead For America (LFA), is a service fellowship program aimed at helping communities build the digital connectivity necessary to expand opportunity and economic mobility, ranging from healthcare access to quality employment.

ACC Members serve with locally-rooted organizations, helping address the digital divide and strengthen access to opportunity. Through their service, they gain hands-on experience, build in-demand skills, and explore career pathways while making a tangible impact in their communities.

About Community Resource EnVision Center

The Community Resource EnVision Center is a nonprofit hub that serves as a single point of entry for residents of Bonner and Boundary Counties seeking assistance. Formerly known as the Sandpoint Community Resource Center, it is a HUD-designated "EnVision Center," meaning it focuses on a holistic approach to helping people achieve long-term self-sufficiency rather than just providing one-time emergency aid.

Position Overview

The ACC Member will serve as our primary Digital Navigator, providing direct, one-on-one support to community members in mastering essential technology, including mobile devices, laptops, and internet navigation. By developing and leading targeted digital literacy workshops, the Member will help seniors and other community members access telehealth and assist low-income families in navigating online educational resources. They will also act as a lead advocate for clients navigating the federal Lifeline program, assisting eligible clients through the application process to ensure affordable home connectivity for community members.

To ensure long-term community impact, the Member will focus on organizational capacity building by developing training modules that empower staff and volunteers at local partner organizations to meet the evolving digital needs of our residents. Additionally, the Member will support the development and implementation of a more robust, user-friendly digital resource portal and an integrated client database. This modern infrastructure will streamline how residents access essential services, making our outreach more data-driven, accessible, and sustainable long after the service year concludes.

This member will also support podcast production activities, utilizing our podcast equipment, to empower local community members and nonprofits with the opportunity to engage in digital marketing and raise awareness for their causes, bridging the gap between technology that may be otherwise inaccessible to them, and their goals of community engagement.

Key Responsibilities

The ACC Member will:

  • Direct Client Support & Navigation
    • Provide personalized assistance to clients with mobile devices, laptops, and internet connectivity.
    • Guide residents through the eligibility and application process for the federal Lifeline program.
    • Design and lead workshops on practical digital skills, such as using telehealth, online banking, and educational tools.
  • Local Capacity Building
    • Create training guides for our staff and volunteers to help them better support the digital needs of our clients.
    • Lead the development and support the launch of a user-friendly web portal to centralize local resources for the public.
    • Build and maintain a client database to help the organization track community needs and service outcomes more effectively.
  • Community Outreach
    • Identify and connect with local groups (seniors centers, libraries, veterans organizations) to promote digital inclusion services.
    • Coordinate with local partners to ensure our digital resources are reaching the people who need them most.
  • Podcasting
    • Support podcast recording, production, and editing, including use of podcast technology for nonprofit and community engagement content.
    • Provide community members and nonprofits with edited videos and audios for their use.
    • Help bridge the gap between technology and nonprofits/community members that otherwise would have not had the opportunity.

All activities performed by the AmeriCorps Member will occur under staff supervision and within the approved AmeriCorps position description and program scope. The Member serves in a direct service and capacity-building role and may not independently manage programs, supervise staff or contractors, determine eligibility, engage in fundraising or grant writing leadership, or perform duties that duplicate, displace, or supplant employees or contractors.

Learning & Development Opportunities

As an ACC Member, you will receive structured training and support throughout your service year, including:

  • A week-long virtual orientation with the national cohort to kick off the service year.
  • A week-long, in-person national Winter Institute convening with your ACC cohort — travel, lodging, and a per diem stipend are fully covered.
  • Twice-monthly virtual training on skills for service, including project management, asset-based community development, grant writing, and serving vulnerable populations, plus self-paced curricula with opportunities to earn badges and credentials.
  • A structured community listening tour at the start of service to understand local needs, assets, and opportunities.
  • Dedicated 1:1 support from a Lead For America Program Coordinator and twice-monthly peer pod meetings for networking and professional development.
  • Access to a national network of ACC Members, alumni, and community partners.

Requirements

  • Passion for community service and connecting your neighbors to the digital tools, skills, and opportunities they need to thrive.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Interest in gaining experience in community development or digital inclusion.

Eligibility:

  • Be a U.S. Citizen, National, or Lawful Permanent Resident.
  • Hold a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Be 17 years of age or older by the start of service.
  • Have not already served four (4) or more AmeriCorps State/National terms.

Timeline:

  • Fully-funded ACC Winter Institute druing the year.
