Data Quality Intern

Description -

Before applying, please note that, to be eligible for this position, you must be currently enrolled at a university in Spain, remain enrolled until the end of the internship, and be eligible to sign an internship agreement with your university. You must also be available to start the internship in February 2027 and continue participating in the program until September 2027.

About the role: We are looking for a final-year student or recent graduate in Computer Engineering, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field to join our Digital Acceleration team on a part-time basis.

The primary focus of this role is end-to-end data quality assurance. The selected candidate will help ensure that data is accurate, complete, consistent, and reliable across sources, pipelines, transformations, and final outputs. The role will also provide occasional support for selected digital solutions, including maintaining our workstation environment and developing small scripts or utilities when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform end-to-end validation of data solutions, from source data through pipelines and transformations to reports, dashboards, or other final outputs.
  • Define and execute data quality checks covering accuracy, completeness, consistency, integrity, and expected business rules.
  • Support data quality investigations under the guidance of experienced team members, helping document findings, perform data validation activities, and contribute to root cause analysis and resolution follow-up.
  • Develop and maintain reusable SQL queries, Python scripts, and automated checks for data validation and monitoring.
  • Validate changes to data pipelines and outputs, helping ensure that updates do not introduce regressions or unexpected results.
  • Maintain clear documentation of test cases, validation results, known issues, and resolution status.
  • Contribute on an occasional basis to other Digital Acceleration activities, such as maintaining the team workstation environment and developing small scripts or utilities for internal tools.

What success looks like: Success in this role means building confidence in the data used by our teams: detecting issues early, making validation repeatable, and helping ensure that data solutions remain reliable over time. The ideal candidate is not expected to master every technology from day one. We value analytical thinking, attention to detail, learning agility, ownership, and a proactive approach to problem solving.

Preferred Background and Skills

We are looking for a solid technical foundation, an analytical mindset, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn. Experience in all areas is not required, but exposure to some of the following would be highly valued:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, AI, or a related field
  • Python for data validation, automation, and scripting.
  • SQL for querying, comparing, and validating data.
  • Databricks or similar data and analytics platforms.
  • Data flows beyond Databricks, including Power Automate, Power BI, and Power Query.
  • Data analysis, profiling, reconciliation, and anomaly detection.
  • ETL processes, data pipelines, jobs, and database fundamentals.
  • Data quality principles, testing methods, and root cause analysis.
  • Modern development environments and structured project practices.
  • Version control and collaborative development using GitHub.
  • English: minimum C1, with the ability to participate in meetings, understand technical documentation, and collaborate in an international environment.
  • Spanish and/or Catalan are valued.

Academic projects, internships, research activities, hackathons, or other practical experience related to data quality, data engineering, software development, or automation are highly appreciated.

We are particularly interested in candidates who:

  • Demonstrate curiosity and a continuous learning mindset.
  • Are enthusiastic about exploring new technologies and ways of working.
  • Can progress independently on assigned tasks while asking for support when needed.
  • Enjoy collaborating within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Are comfortable interacting with different stakeholders.
  • Show initiative, organization, and a results-oriented approach.

Experience our benefits:

  • Paid internship within a global, technology driven company.
  • Join an international work environment, with opportunities for learning, professional development, and networking across teams.
  • Flexible working schedule, with options for part-time agreements (4 hours/day) or full-time (8 hours/day).  The length of the internship ranges from 4 to 12 months.
  • Access to our intern community, including career development workshops, learning sessions, and social activities that help you grow professionally and connect with other interns.
  • Mentor assigned.
  • Opportunity to join the HP Graduate Program following the placement.
  • Lunch at reduced prices at our canteen.
  • Access to our on‑site sports center, including:
  • Gym facilities
  • Squash, tennis, and basketball courts
  • 25+ organized sports and wellness activities, such as HIIT training, squash, basketball, and yoga
  • Participation in the NextGen Employee Network, offering regular events and opportunities to connect with other early‑career professionals.
  • On‑site medical services, including access to a doctor, nutrition support, physiotherapy, and general healthcare.
  • Free printing access and hands‑on workshops using the latest HP technologies — from large‑format prints to 3D‑printed models.
  • Easy commuting: Free parking available or excellent access via nearby train services.
  • Women Network initiatives: Networking events, STEM promotion, business acumen talks, work–life balance sessions, and future‑skills development.
