Under general supervision (but works independently most of the time) responsible for improving data quality across the organization by implementing and maintaining an institutional data governance structure and data quality methodology.

Helps establish policies, standards and processes that will be developed and maintained to support the data quality function.

The role consists of the following:

  • Ability to meet with data owners, data consumers and custodians within sphere of the domain, and consult them, among other things, on data quality best practices and quality implementation.

  • Ability to meet with stakeholders to discuss business problems faced by the business, and translate these into data quality rules so that data quality monitoring can be established.

  • Ability to develop data quality controls (using SQL or a similar programming language), and establish reporting processes via Scheduling tools like Control M.

  • Ability to develop dashboards and creatively visualize data on platforms such as PowerBI. Being able to articulate the issue via a visualization and communicate the data quality story end to end. Ability to become and serve as a key subject matter expert in assigned areas, improving knowledge firmwide.

  • Ability to do root cause analysis of data quality issues and perform remediation of data, such as by working with technical teams to fix issues at the source.

  • Assess, manage, maintain strategies that reduce data redundancy and increases the consistency / confidence of data used for decision making; such as by suggesting business solutions or new data quality rules/monitoring.

  • Collaborate on data management standards, processes and controls and content for the creation and maintenance of common data dictionaries (such as Collibra).

  • Participates in periodic reviews to ensure continued compliance with the data governance policies (includes compliance assessments, monitoring and control testing).

The following experience is required and/or preferred:

  • For internal applications - 24 months as Associate Consultant

  • A College or University degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, and/or relevant proven work experience in data quality is required / preferred.

  • Experience with Collibra Data Quality and Collibra Enterprise Catalog preferred.

  • Knowledge of a programming language like SQL, or Python, or C++.

  • Knowledge of database systems and administration preferred.

  • Knowledge of visualization tools (PowerBI, Incorta, etc) preferred.

  • Knowledge of Data Governance, Data Quality, and Enterprise Data Management concepts.

  • Understand and be capable of effectively communicating the role of Data Governance to both business and technical communities within the sphere of the data domain.

  • Excellent oral, presentation, and written communication skills are required. In-depth Functional / Industry Knowledge in Data Governance and Data Quality is required.

  • Highly flexible and adaptable to change.
