Transaction Advice & Control (TA&C) within ING Wholesale Banking is responsible for the analysis, advice and decision making of transactions for our clients. This is done by risk managers (SCOs and Credit Officers) who have a thorough understanding of credit structuring, credit risk, credit policies, businesses & markets, and ESG related risks. In addition to the client-by-client approval process, risk managers are responsible for portfolio monitoring and advising senior management on strategic directions in terms of risk appetite and portfolio steering.

The team covering TMT&H and Acquisition Finance (AF) is looking for a Credit Officer. In this role, you will be responsible for portfolio management activities for different Product and Sector portfolios. The deal flow is high, allowing you to gain exposure to all aspects of credit risk management and Wholesale Banking’s risk appetite. As you develop and demonstrate your capabilities, opportunities for increased responsibility will arise.

The team

TA&C Amsterdam employs approximately 75 people and is organised in six teams:

• Energy, Transportation & Logistics
• Real Estate Corporate Sector Lending, WCS, BMG and Infra & Construction
• Commodities, Food and Agri
• TMT&H, Acquisition Finance, and Asset Securitization
• Environmental & Social Responsibility

Our team is dynamic and works closely with Front Office colleagues across EMEA. Timelines are often demanding, making flexibility and a can-do mentality important. Within Acquisition Finance and TMT&H, we regularly work together with LDG and DCM teams. Team spirit is highly valued, and it is natural to support fellow TA&C colleagues when needed. The team consists of approximately 10 FTE. The position is based in Amsterdam and reports to the Team Lead. You will work closely with Product and Sector SCOs and act as a point of contact for Front Office teams on the respective portfolios.

Roles and responsibilities

In this role you will:

• Support SCOs on new transactions and act as the second point of contact for Front Office teams.
• Manage product and sector portfolios, including risk ratings, annual reviews, early warning indicator monitoring, and watch-listed files.
• Conduct ad-hoc credit assessments on topics such as the energy crisis, geopolitical conflicts, and tariff implications.
• Ensure the quality and policy consistency of credit applications and other submissions within ING systems.
• Maintain strong relationships with Front Office teams and other stakeholders.
• Contribute to department-wide projects focused on sector analysis, reporting, climate change and initiatives that improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the credit risk management function.
• Support portfolio monitoring activities and contribute to advising senior management on risk appetite and portfolio steering.
