Fund Finance - Associate or BP

Sitting within the Financial Institutions (‘FI’) Sector, the EMEA Fund Finance (‘FF’) team is part of a global business responsible for the origination and structuring of primarily lending transactions to funds managed by European financial sponsors and asset managers. Our clients are predominantly made up of unlisted funds investing in private equity, secondaries, private credit, real estate, and infrastructure, and are managed by leading financial sponsors across the globe. The product offering includes investor-backed capital call facilities for commingled funds, SMA and continuation vehicles, asset-backed NAV financing (across direct buyout, secondaries and private credit) and hybrid solutions combining the two approaches.

The FF EMEA team is now looking to hire an Associate/VP into the team to support continued growth of the business as it looks to deliver on growth targets, drive product expansion into NAV financing and support wider ING sponsor relationships. The role will sit within the EMEA Sectors team, which is made up of experienced fund finance professionals focused on relationship management, origination and structuring of transactions.

Main Duties and Responsibilities of Role:

• Contributing to the origination and execution of fund finance transactions alongside the Deal Principal within the Fund Finance team based in Luxembourg.

• Structuring and pricing of fund finance transactions working with the Transaction Management team on execution and documentation negotiation.

• Assess credit risk across fund structures, investor bases and underlying portfolios, contributing to transaction structuring and risk mitigation discussions.

• Analyze fund structures, investor ecosystems and underlying portfolio assets to identify financing opportunities and deliver tailored solutions across the private markets value chain.

• Strategic business steering to deliver ING’s strategy for the Wholesale Bank, identifying opportunities to drive client value, providing sector expertise and increase lending volumes mobilized for ESG related purposes.

• Working with the wider team to maintain and develop sponsor relationships at a senior level alongside the Relationship Managers, delivering the whole bank to the client and identifying wider opportunities beyond the core lending product.

• Drive product innovation and thought leadership by contributing to efforts to originate structured lending opportunities from NAV to hybrid solutions.

• Maintain a strong understanding of developments across the Fund Finance market, fostering relationships with financial sponsors, lenders, advisors and other key market participants while identifying emerging opportunities and trends relevant to ING and its clients.

We look for

• At least 3-5 years' experience within Fund Finance or a related private markets financing business

• Experience working in a Fund Finance, Financial Sponsors or wider private markets environment, demonstrating strong understanding of fund structures and financing solutions.

• Experience reviewing, negotiating or working with financing documentation and market-standard loan agreements.

• Client-facing and relationship management experience in sponsor coverage

• Teamwork and stakeholder management experience at a bank or other non-bank financial institution.

• Experience interacting with financial sponsors, asset managers and other private markets participants.

• Fluent English both written and verbal, French is considered an asset.

Desirable:

• Familiarity with LMA documentation and syndicated lending processes.

• Experience negotiating term sheets and financing documentation with borrowers, lenders and external counsel

• NAV finance expertise across secondaries, direct PE or private credit.

• Exposure to ancillary products such as hedging instruments, cash management and/or depositary services

• Experience in a team leading fund finance transactions in an arranger/agency capacity

• Relevant professional qualification such as CFA, CAIA, etc.

• Distribution/syndication track record in a bank
