About this Counter Sales Specialist – Hydraulic & Industrial Hose role at Sunsrce
Stuart Hose & Pipe is looking for an experienced, hands-on Counter Sales Specialist to join our team. We don’t just take orders at the counter; we solve problems for contractors, fleet operators, manufacturing plants, and field technicians who need reliable solutions fast.
In this role, you will be the direct face of our branch, helping walk-in and call-in customers identify the right components, fabricating custom assemblies, and managing orders from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities
· Customer Service & Sales: Greet walk-in customers, take incoming orders, clarify application requirements, and recommend the correct hose, fittings, adapters, and accessories.
· Fabrication & Assembly: Build, crimp, cut, and test hydraulic and industrial hose assemblies to customer specifications and industry standards.
· Identification & Sourcing: Measure and identify thread types (NPT, JIC, ORFS, metric, BSPP, etc.), flange patterns, hose specs, and pressure ratings on sample parts brought in by customers.
· Order Management & ERP: Enter counter tickets, quotes, and transfers accurately using our ERP system; check stock availability and manage lead times.
· Warehouse & Inventory Support: Assist with restocking counter bins, cycle counts, receiving inbound transfers, and maintaining a clean, safe assembly and showroom area.
Required Qualifications
· Direct Experience: Proven hands-on experience in hydraulic and industrial hose assembly, crimping, and fitting identification.
· Technical Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of thread types, hose construction, pressure ratings, and fluid conveyance applications.
· Mechanical Aptitude: Ability to read calipers, thread pitch gauges, tape measures, and crimp spec charts accurately.
· Computer Skills: Comfortable learning and navigating point-of-sale / ERP software for order entry, inventory lookups, and quoting.
· Physical Requirements: Ability to stand on your feet throughout the day, lift up to 50 lbs, and work with shop fabrication machinery safely.
· Work Ethic: Strong communication skills, dependable attendance, and a problem-solving mindset under fast-paced counter conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
· Previous experience in fluid power distribution, industrial supply, or heavy equipment parts counters.
· Bilingual (English / Spanish) is a plus.
