At Keywords Studios, we’re looking for an accomplished, enthusiastic, and self-driven Concept Artist to join the team on an exciting new, unannounced stylised game project.

In this role, you’ll help define and develop the visual identity of the project through strong, production-focused concept art across characters, vehicles, environments, and props. You’ll work closely with the Art team leadership and wider development team to translate creative direction into clear, compelling designs that can be carried through into production.

This position is a fixed-term contract role.

Only those with relevant working rights for Malaysia and Indonesia will be considered. Sponsorship and relocation are not being offered as part of this package.

A Concept Artist at Keywords Studios:

• Creates high-quality concept art for characters, vehicles, environments, props, and other key visual elements of the game.
• Develops designs that support and strengthen the project's stylised visual direction.
• Explores a broad range of ideas through sketches, thumbnails, silhouettes, colour studies, and more developed concepts.
• Works closely with the Art Director to establish and maintain a clear visual language across the project.
• Produces production-ready concepts, including appropriate design callouts, turnarounds, material indications, and supporting references where required.
• Creates paintovers and visual solutions to support 3D artists during production.
• Helps establish strong visual benchmarks and contributes to the overall quality bar of the project.
• Understands how shape language, proportion, colour, value, composition, and visual hierarchy contribute to strong stylised design.
• Collaborates closely with character, environment, vehicle, animation, and other art disciplines to ensure concepts translate effectively into the game.
• Iterates quickly and thoughtfully based on feedback while maintaining the original design intent.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Concept Artist within games or a closely related entertainment field.
• A strong portfolio demonstrating the stylised examples of concept characters, vehicles, and environments to a high standard.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating excellent stylised design skills, shape language, silhouette, colour, composition, and visual storytelling.
• Strong drawing and digital painting skills, with the ability to communicate ideas clearly and efficiently.
• Ability to move comfortably between early ideation and more polished, production-ready concepts.
• Strong understanding of form, perspective, anatomy, proportion, lighting, and colour theory.
• Ability to create designs that are visually appealing while remaining practical for downstream 3D production
• Comfortable working across different subject matter rather than specialising exclusively in characters or environments.
• Ability to interpret an Art Director's vision and explore multiple creative solutions within an established visual style.
• Comfortable working collaboratively across disciplines and iterating quickly based on feedback.
• Experience working on a shipped game project is preferred.
• Familiarity with 3D tools or incorporating basic 3D workflows into the concept process is a plus.
