About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Chief Accountant to manage accounting operations, financial reporting, and statutory compliance in accordance with Kazakhstan's accounting and tax regulations.
The role involves overseeing financial closing, tax reporting, reconciliations, and audits, while ensuring compliance with local requirements and IFRS. The successful candidate will work closely with local management and regional finance teams to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily accounting operations and maintain accurate financial records.
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing and reporting.
- Ensure compliance with Kazakhstan's accounting standards, tax regulations, and statutory reporting requirements.
- Prepare and review financial statements, tax returns, and management reports.
- Maintain the general ledger, balance sheet reconciliations, and effective financial controls.
- Ensure compliance with IFRS, company policies, and Delegation of Authority requirements.
- Coordinate external audits and liaise with auditors, tax authorities, and banks.
- Monitor accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash flow.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and regional financial reporting.
- Maintain audit-ready documentation and identify opportunities to improve accounting processes.
- Supervise accounting team members and collaborate with regional and corporate finance teams.
Suitable applicants will have/be:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline. ACCA, CPA, CIMA, or an equivalent professional qualification is preferred.
- 8-12 years of accounting and finance experience, including 3-5 years in a Finance Manager, Chief Accountant, Senior Accountant, or similar leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of Kazakhstan's accounting standards, tax regulations, statutory reporting, and IFRS.
- Proven experience in financial closing, financial statements, tax compliance, audit coordination, and internal controls.
- Experience with 1C Accounting, SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP systems, along with advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Fluency in Russian and professional working proficiency in English are required. Knowledge of Kazakh is an advantage.
