Key Responsibilities

Under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist, the COTA will:

  • Implement individualized treatment plans developed by the Occupational Therapist.

  • Provide skilled occupational therapy interventions to help residents improve functional abilities and independence.

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including dressing, grooming, bathing, toileting, and other functional tasks.

  • Monitor resident progress and communicate changes to the Occupational Therapist and interdisciplinary team.

  • Maintain accurate and timely treatment documentation, including daily notes and progress reports.

  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team regarding resident goals, progress, care planning, and discharge planning.

  • Educate residents, families, and caregivers on therapeutic techniques, exercises, adaptive strategies, and safety.

  • Assist with training restorative aides and provide support to nursing staff as appropriate.

  • Establish positive relationships with residents and families while advocating for their rehabilitation goals.

  • Promote resident safety, dignity, independence, and quality of life.

Qualifications

  • Current and active California Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) license required.

  • Strong commitment to resident-centered care.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
