The Opportunity

This position is based in Bogotá, Colombia.

The Business Systems Specialist is responsible for supporting the Vaisala Environmental Monitoring System (EMS) used across Abbott manufacturing and laboratory environments worldwide. This role partners with business stakeholders, site personnel, vendors, and IT teams to ensure reliable system performance, compliance with quality and regulatory requirements, and effective utilization of environmental monitoring solutions. The position also contributes to system enhancements, deployments, process improvements, and user adoption initiatives supporting business-critical operations.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for business users supporting the Vaisala Environmental Monitoring System (EMS) across approximately 80 Abbott manufacturing and laboratory sites globally.

  • Provide day-to-day application support, including incident resolution, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and management of Level 2 support requests.

  • Administer user access management activities, including account provisioning, deprovisioning, and role-based access controls in compliance with applicable policies and procedures.

  • Configure and maintain EMS application settings, dashboards, reports, and monitoring capabilities to support business and compliance requirements.

  • Perform routine system maintenance and health monitoring activities to ensure platform reliability, performance, and availability.

  • Troubleshoot device communications, sensor connectivity, and environmental monitoring infrastructure issues across supported sites.

  • Partner closely with business stakeholders, site personnel, vendors, and IT teams to ensure effective utilization and continuous improvement of the EMS platform.

  • Support system expansion, deployment, and enhancement initiatives, including configuration activities, testing, documentation, and implementation support.

  • Gather, analyze, and translate business requirements into effective system solutions and enhancements.

  • Develop and maintain system documentation, support procedures, knowledge articles, and training materials.

  • Deliver user training and knowledge transfer sessions to support adoption and effective use of the environmental monitoring platform.

  • Provide technical expertise and guidance related to environmental monitoring solutions and best practices.

  • Support validation, quality, and regulatory compliance activities to ensure adherence to applicable standards and requirements.

  • Collaborate with global teams to drive process improvements, operational excellence, and standardization across Abbott sites.

  • Contribute to strategic initiatives and continuous improvement efforts related to environmental monitoring technologies and processes.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Systems, Life Sciences, or a related field.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience supporting enterprise applications, business systems, environmental monitoring platforms, or similar technologies.

  • Experience in application administration, system configuration, user access management, and technical support.

  • Experience working with business stakeholders and translating requirements into technology solutions.

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a global environment.

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Experience managing multiple priorities and working in cross-functional teams.

  • Knowledge of software validation, change management, and quality processes is preferred.

  • Professional proficiency in English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Vaisala Environmental Monitoring System (EMS) or similar environmental monitoring platforms.

  • Experience supporting GxP-regulated environments.

  • Understanding of manufacturing, laboratory, quality, or healthcare operations.

  • Knowledge of environmental monitoring technologies, sensors, and data acquisition systems.

  • Experience supporting global enterprise applications.

  • Familiarity with Computer System Validation (CSV) practices.

  • Experience working with IT Service Management (ITSM) processes and tools.

  • Comfortable using generative AI tools to enhance productivity and problem-solving.
